A lot of people do live like zombies and accept the world as fukked up as it is. Then you have some outliers who say fukk that. But then they make power moves. Unfortunately the only way out of the rat race is working. That's a fact. But most people work without thinking so their cycle is never ending. Make a plan and work with purpose. If your purpose is to "survive" or "get these bills paid" that's most likely just what you'll get.
