Yeah I test drove the IS350 and it sounded like shyt, along with it having a tiny ass interior.

If you have to have a Lexus -- the GS is the one to get if you want a sedan. Lexus assumed that if they made the ES bigger and a bit wider, that they'd pick up the GS buyer's -- they were wrong.

Define big. What are you looking for in an SUV?
I am a fan of the off-road type SUVs. I don’t want a suburban type SUV. Just a Grand Cherokee sized joint.

I am really a fan of the black on black GC Altitude.

There's not a ton in that size that's off-road ready with little to no work like the GC. Depending on when you're looking to buy, you might get lucky and get a deal on a non-refresh model since I'm pretty sure Stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep is going to want to drop the Hurricane engine in the GC. When that happens, the price of the GC is going to go up.

Edit: if you do intend to go off-roading, if the GC is offered in a diesel, that's the model to get, although that diesel's reliability is iffy.

Word.

What do you think of the Grand Cherokee in general?

What do you think of the Grand Cherokee in general?

Couple of things. Mechanically, the car and the 3.6 liter V6 is solid, the only issues it has are this: the lifters and cam phasers/timing chains take a shyt if you don't change the oil every 5,000 miles and use GOOD oil. That being said, every 3.6 will leak oil from the Engine Oil Cooler at some point which sits in the valley of the engine (under the intake manifold and between the two cylinder heads). They also had an issue with thermostats and water outlet housings which sit in the front of the engine, but they're fairly easy to replace yourself if you're mechanically inclined. Rear shocks occasionally leak as well (aftermarket shocks are relatively affordable and decent quality if you don't want to spend the money on the OEM parts).

UConnect is solid for the vehicle infotainment- be sure it has the larger screen and that it can be updated for Android Auto/Apple Car play. Oh yeah -- battery is under the passenger seat (the vehicle battery and the start stop battery); it lasts longer than most batteries because it's protected from the hot/cold cycles from under the hood, but when the battery is dead, it's REALLY dead. Something to keep in mind. Any other questions? Need more specifics?

I‘m thinking about getting a 2014-16 RS7 with low miles, but the prices for those are still pretty high (for a used car)

Good looks. I copped my last Jeep at 30K and lasted to 90K until it got totaled. :mjcry:

I definitely think I’ll get another one.

Also which SUV would you recommend for my wife? I guess a compact SUV would be good.

Define compact? Like Chevy Trax/Trailblazer sized or like Equinox sized?

One thing if you find a good price on a Hemi powered GC -- they're good cars, but every Hemi will need a set of lifters at some point (this is the cause of the "tick" that Dodge V8's have), and when it's time to do spark plugs for maintenance, you'll need 16 of them (2 spark plugs per cylinder).

Edit: if you're financing, I would STRONGLY advise you to join a credit union and finance thru them, the rates banks are offering are a little crazy these days.

Yeah. I got quoted at 3.5 at a credit union. I could pay straight cash but that’ll deplete a large amount of my savings. Gonna lay low.
