“In 2019, Lexus sold just 3,378 units of the GS in the United States, making it the brand's slowest-selling four-door sedan. The declining sales, coupled with the increasing competition from rival luxury brands, made it difficult for Lexus to justify continued GS production.” It would be a lot easier to just add on to the ES than create a whole other production line. If people want performance they go to the Germans. Your average Lexus buyers isn’t looking for performance. They want the reliability of a Toyota with some luxury. The GSF is one of my favorite cars, but leaves a lot to desire when you factor in price and tech. Not to mention they barely depreciate keeping them in the $30-$40k range where you can get a Merc or BMW instead. Most car brands are putting out more cross overs than ever before. I can’t stand cross overs, but the data is out there that crossovers/SUVs are up and sedans are on the decline. I sell cars so I have to keep up with this info.
