Is 15% a good standard? With so many car jackings I want the element of surprise. Illinois is 35% which is trash, but I don't think the police out here harass you if you go lower.

15% is is what I have. I think in Florida it’s 20% or 25% legal, but with that people can see you in your car like 25% in the front and 15% in the back. like wtf that shyt makes no sense and looks silly. So I do 15% all over and it’s not too dark or too light it’s in between. You don’t want pitch black dark like 9 or 10 % tint my friend did that and was lucky he never hit anyone. cause at night, you will not see anything at all not even when you are back out. 35% in Illinois is ridiculous you might as well not tint your windows. And cops stopped me once back in 2015 and told me it’s under the meter but it was bs cause the didn’t have no reason to stop me they were just bored.

Police aint bothered my sister yet here in Illinois and her windows dark as hell. I never seen windows so dark. Looks good on the black whip though

Yeah man. Must of been since 2016 or 2017. Can't pass with it on if it's under 70%. For sedans, all 4 windows have to be max 70%, the back winshield can be whatever. SUVs only the driver and passenger side have that requirement. In NY you'll see a lot of cars with just tint on the back windshield since they had to remove their other tint for inspection. Had to remove them on my first car, planned on just removing and getting them installed again in my current whip, but don't really want to waste 500 every year doing that. Especially since I know there's spots in NY where if you pay a little extra they will let leave them on and pass the inspection. Just have to find out where exactly.

Is it better to let the dealership tint my windows or let a private tinted window shop to tint my windows?

Cheaper if u go private dealer gone tax ya

It was 2 years ago but I went ahead and let the dealership tint the windows.

They did a job and it's still holding up after 2 years.

I do 15 all around and 30 on the windshield.
