The cost depends on your wheel dimensions. Certain dimensions are less common therefore they cost a lot more. I habitually purchase Bridgestone Potenza RE003s, which are an excellent tyre and will provide insane grip for any vehicle under 300kW, which that's most quick cars covered by that.
Anyway on my old car which ran 235/45/R17 wheels, it was only $200 per tyre, and they had a buy three get the fourth free offer on top.
With my current car I run 225/35/R18 which is a really uncommon dimension. The cost of the tyres shot up to $259 per, and this time they didn't have a special offer so I had to pay around $1200
It's the same exact tyre, but the different sizes of the wheel makes all the difference in price
