No one says this:snoop:
We are leading all nations in reducing emissions... you actually want us to complain about being number one, and doing the most:snoop:

How are we "doing the most" when our president himself says climate change is a Chinese conspiracy? :mjlol:

Not only is us being "number one" highly questionable in the first place, but we have a smaller population than China or India and we still emit way more CO2 per capita than them.

China and India both are home to more than 1.3 billion people. The U.S. population is only one-quarter of that — about 325 million. On a per capita basis, the United States produced 16.5 metric tons of CO2 in 2014, according to the World Bank. China produced 7.5 metric tons and India produced 1.7 metric tons.

By this measure, the United States produced more than double the emissions of China and eight times more than India. The United States has a long way to go to bring per capita emissions in line with China and India, yet Pruitt twists this metric to make it seem as if the United States is not such a big emitter of CO2.

So sorry, trying to obfuscate the topic with cherrypicked stats doesn't cut it.

Again...
Thats all im saying.

With the exception of China, why wouldn't the US (with 300 mil citizens) be pushed hard to curve co2 emission. We're the 2nd largest emitter. Thus, we should bear a sizeable portion of responsibility to reduce co2. I have never really heard anyone give China a pass, at least not in my bubble.

Trump is an idiot, ignore him. The market continues to take steps to curb emissions without govt. force:blessed:and states have steeped up where necessary:blessed:
As for the per capita argument, the numbers are A LOT closer if not in Americas favor if you look at urban populations, which are the problem areas, allowing the 500 million+ chinese/indians living in the mountains and other rural areas to bear some of the blame only helps the small number of corporations at fault to fly under the radar.

Only 30% of indians live in urban areas... :mindblown: how could a per capita analysis give you an accurate idea how gross their disregard for the climate is? Per capita in this discussion is used solely to shyt on America.

Global Emissions Rose in 2017, But U.S. and China Both Made Progress

The biggest decline in absolute emissions came in the United States, where greenhouse gas emissions dropped by 0.5 percent in spite of efforts by the Trump administration to bring back coal, develop offshore oil, and withdraw from the Paris climate accord.
Market forces, including the low price of renewables and natural gas, as well as a growing appetite for renewable energy fueled the decrease in U.S. emissions.
Renewable energy provided a record 17 percent of U.S. electricity generation in 2017. That's a percentage that will likely continue to grow, said Glen Peters, researcher director at the Center for International Climate Research in Oslo.

From the article in the OP
"a record high of 37.1 billion tons of carbon dioxide per year, is being driven by a nearly 5 percent growth of emissions in China and more than 6 percent in India, researchers estimated"

First, it’s my belief that emissions per capita is a valid high level metric for assessing a nation’s emission performance regardless of rural/urban segregation. Yes, the segregation provides some context but that’s hardly a reason to throw a per capita metric.

America may be making progress but it’s like praising a student with a D- average, improving to a C-, and patting him on the back, when you know he/she is smart enough to have an A+ average. America has the know-how, capital and technology to employ more sustainable practices but the will is severely lacking. Its reliance on fossil fuels is like that same kid not studying in college because he knows he’ll get a job at the dads company.

Scolding China and India is like scolding a kid who’s on student loans, no parental support who is hustling on the side by selling weed and chopping hair, for having a C average.

:hubie:Fair enough... but I believe the per capita data would look different if only urban areas were measured, and America is doing the absolute best it can given the current political climate.
I see no reason to bash it.
Private companies and state governments are all taking action.

:yeshrug:I also believe communist/socialist governments should be held more accountable(then capitalist governments) for the output of their economy...

:stopitslime:Another argument no one has made... whats being said is that communist states should be held more liable for economic on-goings than "free market" capitalist ones. Neither one is innocent.
