It’s just common sense which a lot of this generation and a lot of people in general lack these days

WAP is one single that was successful for what it was worth given the fact it was released during the pandemic but how many other singles has she released for the second album that have come and gone? There’s been a few and none of them have been strong enough to work for the album because if they would’ve been, they would’ve released the album for the 50th time lmao

Cardi may have cold feet but it’s the label who says when the album drops and when it doesn’t lol
“Up” is a multi platinum #1 single. Wap is a multi platinum #1 single. Enough is a platinum top 10 single. Your common sense tells you a label didn’t want to release her album during these? :francis:

Akademiks, who actually knows and deals with these label workers, has stated multiple times Atlantic has been begging her to drop for years but SHE is the one comfortable dropping singles and making money from brand deals. Which makes sense for her. She won a Grammy with her only album. The label has forced out albums for less successful artists with less traction.

Don't switch up now

Your words: Ain’t nobody checking for her music

Yet in just 13 hours she has the only audio in Youtubes top 10, while trending at #8. And the audio will hit a million views in a few more hours

That means you were wrong. You can post all the emojis you want but you were wrong about nobody checking for her music.

What you saying is all conventional wisdom

Except that there actually has to be an album to release in the first place

Cardi’s deal, according to her and reporting, is that she never turned the album into the label…she had anxiety about a sophomore slump and felt a type of way about not recouping on the first one anyway….usually rappers are in a rush to drop an album because they’re living from advance to advance, but Cardi apparently was good paper wise from the second advance and everything else she had going on…she’s no doubt so far in the hole budget wise with this she’s never gonna see a dime on the back end..so she moved on her own timing

The label wants money

I’m sure she’s recoded dozens of songs

But with no music that connects

She ain’t got no music to sell

Which is why the second album hasn’t been released yet

i've heard this is the issue from someone i know and trust. the last rolling stone cover was supposed to signal she was starting the rollout. cardi is is the one holding everything up. what i also heard is that while some of the singles have done well, she hasn't been entirely confidant about what she has in her bag this go round. at least in the past.
