She had a phenomenal run. What is a married mother with two children gonna rap about these days?
A couple of years ago I read about her and hubby making some good (real estate) money moves in Georgia.

Kinda interesting seeing her post insane push from the label. She's essentially a household name at this point but there was a period she was sitting with Bernie Sanders, a whole cultural talking point with WAP and shyt.

I'm curious to see if it could be replicated when she's pushing an album but it really feels like such perfect timing with the perfect person.

The gorilla x cardi "vs" nicki x ice spice shyt is a good example

The need for an album to be relevant and certify you are all but over. Cardi is the only female rapper that has dropped a hit album the last 10 years. Everybody else is single driven.

As long as she stays active on social media and drops loosies and guest features that hit, she's gonna stay relevant.

Truth be told, Invasion of Privacy is one of the biggest "what if's" in hip-hop if she didn't get pregnant right before they released it. That album had legs to continue to drop singles off almost every song.

Nope.
She is already etched in stone...

The "old guard" using "checkpoints" from 20 years ago to judge what's happening now..

It's a new music business with different rules.

Social media allows her to stay relevant in a variety of ways..

The music is a vehicle to whatever lane she wants to enter
This is correct. She's basically already made it because she has enough charisma and personality to remain relevant. Female MCs have a shorter time-frame. I think she's savy enough to know the hint of a new album is stronger than her releasing an album.

Obviously if she dropped an album this year, it would easily be top 5 streamed this year. But does she NEED to? Can she just keep hopping on other people's songs and stay relevant? Or for her legacy, she needs something this year?
seeing as she still has relevance from jumping on hot "thot" rapper songs (glorilla/big latto) I am going to say no. I thought she would've faded but the fact she still kicking is crazy.

Her own album would flop, she had Kanye (Donda rollout) and Durk (buzzing) on a single and nothing happened.

Invasion Of Privacy was 5 summers ago...
WAP was 3 summers ago

The pandemic is over now too.

You're telling me that her and Offset cant make a Husband and Wife album at least.

Say what u want about Nicki but she didnt wait more than 5 years to drop a another album.

Cardi has access to writers and beats plus she's likable and industry folks fucc with her, she aint gonna be doin us like Lauryn Hill.
Queen was 5 years ago, and Pinkprint was 4 years before Queen.

Nicki just appears busier because she re-released an old ass mixtape and put out basically a greatest hits and threw in a couple of new songs on each.

Nicki still has a stronger discography than Cardi...

Just put the music out. Dont do that Andre 3000 shyt trying to please folks. I guarantee those same cats arent gonna buy the album.

Cardi should have dropped when WAP came out and capitalized it.

Wasn’t what I was arguing. I was responding to a particular part of that post.

I think Cardi was gonna drop after Up dropped but then she got pregnant again.

Nicki's main fans are turning 30.

Cardi's main fans are still teenagers and college aged.

🤷🏾‍♂️Add in the fact that Nicki turned a whole lotta people off with her attitude, her brother and her husband.

Nope, Cardi is doing exactly what you should do in uncertain times. Wait and just release singles because the target demographic clearly doesn't care about albums now as much as adding songs to their playlists.

Barbs are pushing 40 bro. Everything else you said is accreate, them singles blowing up...she doesnt need to push an album if she can do what she's doing now: drop singles and good to great features

I say 30 because those are the target demographic fans that were in high school/middle school when Nicki first came out. She hasn't really been relevant outside of "Rake It Up." Add in that she hasn't had a real organic solo outside hit in YEARS
