you’re assuming the software is free. I didn’t see him mention anywhere that it was and it would be dumb for him to invest his own money when ultimately it isn’t going to increase his pay.

It isnt but it is very affordable

It's gonna increase his personal productivity, he'll be able to out perform his coworkers doing the same work which gives him a huge edge and can result in promotions or bonuses.

Speaking my language my guy

these are assumptions. Assuming this is some enterprise grade software it isn’t smart to assume him investing hundreds-thousands will yield him a promotion or bonus especially without info on how their processes for these things even work :mjlol:.

if breh is talking about a personal license for some 20 dollar software then thats another story and one that doesnt even really need a thread like this.

I feel as if I'd be shytting on them seeing as A) I just started B) Theyre moving along with the new system
idk :skip: I'm growing more and more perplexed by it all. Personally, I'd see that shyt like a project/opportunity and wanna create something to offer them. But it sounds like something perfect is already out there, so
... I really don't know what to say :skip: Just see if you could try it out I guess

So I just got a job in the accounting / finance field working for a smaller contractor. Long story short, this industry needs a lot of different types of calculations i.e estimates, actuals, labor calculations, price lists from vendors, commissions, finance fees, margin variance etc.

These nikkas are using old ass systems which are costing them time & money. + the CRM that theyre moving too aint that good either (for the industry) and their customer service is trash. Especially for what I do, a 1 minute calculation takes 5 fukkin minutes cause of being bogged down by 5x the data entry and having to put something in like five different places.

I have a decent relationship with my boss so I was thinking about telling him that if I use a different software for the financials then the company would be in much better hands and could plan better. What do you guys think? Its a smaller company so bouncing ideas off of the company heads is both okay and encouraged.
don't do it. there's a reason it's old as F*** it's simply because they don't want to pay.
I've seen too many companies where this is a problem and when you tell them the obvious they start saying you are the problem and it's a "trusted" system that's been with them for years.
When they're piling in losses only then will they listen. Just use the better program on the downlow.

If it's as simple as suggesting a different software then idk why you wouldn't make the suggestion. What are your concerns?
I'm saying... bush that timid behavior asap. It'll only hold your career back.

You have ideas that'll have a positive impact for the business, present them.

You can be the new guy that comes out of the gates running, or just another drone in the office.

Are you able to do a demo with some sample data so they can see how much more efficient it is?

exactly, breh can do a quick POC with his business case to leadership and if they dont see the value then thats on them. If breh invests on his own and just uses it then that removes incentive for the company to ever improve if dudes are gonna invest their own money lol

I don't think you know how the industry works.

You can't just use a different software without running it through compliance/controls.

It needs to get signed otherwise it will fukk with internal audits.

I also don't think you realise how licences work. Commercial vs home use. One will likely cost thousands.

Right. Breh should just act like he's on shark tank. Leadership wants to see tangibles not hypotheticals. Show the workflow with the old software vs workflow with the new software and how you're able to execute X% more contracts in half the time or some shyt.
