that shift was never going to reverse things quickly and thats goes to show the danger of letting bad things fester. I'm very concerned about teenagers committing crimes, especially these types of crimes which is a magnitude different from selling some weed. when teenagers get use to breaking the law in this fashion and "earning a living" that way, then thats what they'll likely do and escalate as adults which doesn't bode well for society.
When people committing crimes get slaps on the risk it only escalates and that’s what we’re seeing

i'm convinced a lot of this recent crime wave is driven by wealth inequality. :francis:

they should look at the household income of all these kids committing these carjacking's...

how many regular everyday citizens chose to become first-time offenders by committing PPP loan fraud? too many have-nots in this country and people are looking for a comeup.
You don't remember that thread about that rapper who said something like, if I can rob why would I work... Lol

How long are we going to make excuses for bad behavior

Where do u exactly sell these converters?

metal recycling yards.

Why Is It So Easy for Thieves to Sell Stolen Catalytic Converters?
snippet:
Scrap dealers buying used converters are supposed to get a copy of the seller's ID, a photo of the seller, the license plate number of the seller's car, and video of the transaction itself. Payment by check must be mailed, and only after a mandatory three-day waiting period.

However, plenty of out-of-state scrapyards will happily buy a catalytic converter from you through the mail with just a photocopy of your (or, really, anyone's!) driver's license.

Catalytic converters work their magic by passing emissions through a honeycomb impregnated with a few grams of platinum, palladium and rhodium, in varying proportions.

You're familiar with platinum, so you won't be surprised to learn that it's currently $966 an ounce. However, you might not have known that an ounce of palladium is $2,246—and you probably won't even believe that an ounce of rhodium goes for $13,700.

snippet:
It's no surprise since thieves are looking to cash in on those precious metals with high market value, upwards of a thousand dollars. But where are they selling the stolen goods?

"There's several places that are still buying catalytic converters," said London.

Tracking down used catalytic converters online is pretty easy, but it can be difficult to determine if the product is legit.

London says most recycling centers and junkyards require customers to sign a piece of paper saying the part isn't stolen before making the sale, and Recycling Depot has an extra safeguard in place.

"We haven't used these papers in a long time because we only buy from dealerships and licensed repair facilities, period," said London.

Just last week, a KING 5 news van was hit by thieves who stole the catalytic converter in broad daylight.

"It doesn't shock me at all. It happens to several of the businesses around here," said London.

London is calling on other recycling businesses and scrap yards to stand together in only purchasing catalytic converters from reputable repair shops and dealerships – not the general public.

What is “tough on crime bullshyt”?

the car jacking shyt is the result of the bullshyt virtual learning from the past 2 years. You got a lot of teens that would’ve exerted time and energy at school getting into gang shyt and and large car jacking schemes

crime is up over all because repeat offenders are not getting jail time when getting caught. They are being put on house arrest and “catch and release” due to the backlog in the courts

criminals should be locked up. That should be this countries focus. Anyone who disagrees with that is full of shyt
Tough-on-crime bullshyt like 3 strike laws, stop-and-frisk and other aggressive policing policies.

The backlog you keep referencing is largely affecting prosecution of low-level offenders. Car-jacking is designated as a violent crime and is still being prioritized by the courts along with homicides and other gun crimes.

People are being locked up for violent crimes like they should be.

what evidence do you have that these repeat offenders?
All the evidence is every time someone gets caught

look at the young Dolph murder. That guy had shot up a bowling alley a couple of years priors

everyone that knows, knows. The criminals are getting slaps on the wrist Because the counties and cities can’t afford to hold people in jail until their trial date and when they get sent to prison

that wasn't a solution:rudy:, it was a theory for their motivation.

theres a recent thread of a dude stealing catalytic converters who had 8 kids at home, some people are committing these crimes to support their families.

Gun owner shoots and kills car thief, family of theif believe its a wrongful death

How do you know the condition of the person they was stealing the catalytic converter from? They possibly could be in just as bad, if not worse situation.. You disingenuous asf because you never ever think about the victim of these crimes..

If you pull up supporting evidence then they'll nitpick the source..

That isn't true. America sentences people longer for crimes than any other developed country damn near..

Most countries have limits and can't sentence you longer than 25 or 35 years. America will be like, 735 years plus life lol.

The problem is deeper than that

his crimes seems to have been committed in tennessee and i'm unaware of any criminal justice reform ongoing over there. it seems he was convicted, serving his sentence and released twice before.

dude was obvious a bad egg long before the Dolph murder.

Alot of teens and groups, are at war right now too. Cars are gettin jacked to commit shootings, etc. That's on top of seeing the victim as an "opportunity". :mjlol:
