Carlito's Way or Scarface?

I still got Carlito's Way on tape Even with all of this technogly in my house and the access to Blu Ray rips, I still got the fukking tape. I love both...you really start rooting on Carlito through the flick though if there was a favorite to choose. Just thinking about it the other day how when Sean Penn set him up on the boat and he had to straighten him out after he trusted him like that for getting him out of prison, that was some real ass shyt. If there is one thing about Carlito's Way I always go back to, it's the part where he says "when you can't see the angles anymore, you're in trouble." That line of thinking of thinking reminds of how Luciano and Lanksy rose to greatness in the 30s in New York.

The thing about Scarface is the obsession with the sister and killing your best friend were moves that led to his downfall besides the coke binges. It was easy to see his fall coming.

Casino is to Goodfellas as Carlitos way is to Scarface

Actually, Carlito's Way would be Goodfellas since the whole Al Pacino gangster schtick was getting old and he only signed on because this was the best character driven story.

in other words, Carlito's Way was the culmination.
Much like Goodfellas was the REAL movie after The Godfather.

Scarface/Godfather = much more influential for sure.

In my opinion:

Carlito's Way/Goodfellas = Better movies.

both are awesome but lol @ picking Carlito's Way. well, maybe. Scarface, outside of Pacino's performance, is just like whatever. but he is in it, so i don't know. had to vote Face for the performance. such a great, classic, well known character.

Al Pachino ruined Scarface. As a matter of fact, Pachino isn't a very good actor. With the exception of the Godfather and Donny Brasco, Pachino plays every charater damn near the same with his overacting.

Same shyt here everytime I see that ending I always root for a better ending.

Carlitos Way is the better movie and I will always watch that movie when its cable, probably find myself popping in the Dvd yearly as well. There is arguably not a all around cooler cat than Carlito was. Pacino played that dude perfectly just like he played Tony Montana perfectly. People always make jokes about how Al over acted the fukk outta Tony Montana but I always wonder how else does somebody play that role?

Scarface? Yall are really putting scarface up there like that? Man it was entertaining and all but cmon. Shyt is it cuz this is a hip hop forum? Scarface is your average rags to riches story that's been done a hundred times before and a hundred times since.

But its THEE rag to riches story imo. And we can even say that maybe Brian De Palma grew as a filmmaker by the time he did Carlito's Way.

Carlitos way is very good movie. I think i tend to nit pick it more than scarface which is kind of a B movie and cult status so i forgive its shortcomings. . Both movies simp a worthless white broad which in Carlitos way is more annoying to me for some reason lol...

The cinematography is great in Carlitos Way and i like Sean Penns performance. But i do like the low budget feel and Pacinos grittyness, Scarface has that classic feel to it and i would have to choose SCARFACE for its sometimes goofy but EPIC atmosphere.

Scarface is quirky and at times comical in its acting- Michelle Phiffer is like a manikin in this movie. Its all '80's with this flick and truthfully it didn't age well. But the quotes alone in Scarface have stood up against some of the best films ever made. Its so fukking gully and over the top.. You didn't see someone snorting from a mountain pile of coke or a dude getting hanged from a helicopter. They said fukk it and went all out for this one. It was originally given a X Rating just off the violence alone without any sex scenes. One thing I'll say is that outside of the intro music(the Mobb Deep sample), the soundtrack in Scarface is pretty bad.

-he ruined Scarface??? wtf? He IS SCARFACE motherfukker!! I'll buy that he over-acts in some of his roles but In your mind who should've played Tony Montana knowing what Scarface has become as a film in modern society? And after his incredible ground breaking role as Michael Corleone in The Godfather- the "he's not a very good actor" is thrown out the window. You can't even attach that statement to a guy like him. Marlon Brando had some shytty roles as well. I guess you feel Will Smith should've been Neo in The Matrix as well instead of Keanu Reeves
