Saxon reminds me of a lot of kids I went to boarding school and Duke with. There's a great line/lines, in that first scene, which is very typical of a certain type
Staff: How'd you find us?
Well, she went to Chapel Hill, and we went to Duke, and she want to Duke, and he's going to Princeton, and then he got into Duke.....
Like this long ass monologe of status signaling
Thought about what a black family would look like too. Like a wealthy black one. I have heard some of those convos, and there's a lot of themes worth exploring, but from a white director, probably not the right person to write a whole black family. Not sure if the writing for Belinda is even 100%. it's not BAD, but it crosses into stereotypes here and there.
I was at this spot in Laguna, about 6 years ago, it's called Studio at the Montage, and there was two couples at a table within earshot, all black and in their 50's, affluent. And one of the quotes was like "My daughter, I mean, I'll give her the 200k, but after she gets married" something like that. They were from DC, but you don't see a lot of that in San Diego.

Minus the weird-ass incest vibes I’m getting
