:manny: as a Niners fan Im glad this happened. Palmer is having a great year but he'll fall back to reality. AZ will regret not upgrading him down the road.

I cant imagine they built a deal they cant get out of. Arians is the QB doctor...I'm sure they'll draft one next year or the year after. Logan Thomas isnt the answer.

Palmer has been solid since the 2nd half of last season. I don't see a problem locking him in for another year or 2 until the team finds another QB.

I always love the false advertising these news sites do with NFL contracts in order to create more of a shocking headline. the headline should read, "3 years, $20.5 million guaranteed".

realistically most players never get the full amount of their advertised contracts. you always have to look for that guaranteed number. for Palmer to make the full $50 million he will have to reach some very unrealistic incentives. still getting paid like a boss regardless though.

contracts can be very different though. there are a few bad contracts that dont give the team the incentive to cut someone if they suck because of dead money
but in general, agreed

yea if anything I think the NFL does contracts the right way. only guarantee a certain amount to ensure that the player doesn't get lazy after getting paid so that they will continue to work hard. far too often in the NBA and especially in MLB you see a player get a giant contract, and then get lazier and lazier by the week.

I was just saying the media typically blows these contract numbers out of proportion in order to produce a flashy headline.
