I feel you but the season Case missed when he tore his ACL, the Cougars were noticeably worse while he was rehabbing. He was obviously the reason why Houston was good.

kevin sumlin and kliff kingsbury molded keenum, lets not act like he didnt take down a 5th ranked okie state, or penn state in the bowl game.

keenum is legit, and ive been preaching it for years

We lost Case and then his backup Cotton Turner for the season in the same half at the Rose Bowl. True freshman Terrence Broadway (who starts at Louisiana Lafayette now) finished the game. He got replaced by another true freshman in David Piland (who just retired from concussions recently) in the next game. Neither had even taken a rep in practice with the ones up to that point. Not to mention Piland wasn't/isn't good. We still would have won 9-10 games that year had Turner not gotten hurt.

Kliff is that dude but he deserves some credit but not most and definitely not all for Keenum. Same for Sumlin. Art Briles deserves a lot more than both tbh. Briles gave Case his only fbs scholarship offer. I'm a big Sumlin fan but I've seen it reported that there was some question as to who should have been UH's qb when he first came here (Keenum split time with Blake Joseph) but that's bullshyt and he would have been an idiot to start Blake who clearly wasn't as good as Case. There's no doubt in my mind Briles would have had Case at least as good as the level that he left UH at. Another way Briles deserves credit is because he had RGIII committed to UH before he followed him to Baylor. Case may not have ever seen the field if the Briles hadn't left so in a way he gave Case the two biggest breaks of his life.

As for Kliff, I think he's a really good coach now and he has HIGH upside as he grows but Dana Holgerson ran the offense when Briles left and Kliff learned a lot from him as Case. Kliff was quality control coach or some shyt. That said he's young enough that he has a great bond with the athletes and they all play hard for him. If y'all want to build the Kliff mystique I'd focus more on him knocking down a prime Brittney Spears or him being Houston's version of Mike Modano while he was coaching here.
