I'm playing the game, loving the story, exploring the castle elements. my only big fukking gripe is the stealth sneaking parts. is equally frustrating and was not needed in the game. I mean you have the prince of darkness when he's at full strength but cannot fight these guys in undestructible armor. these sneaking set pieces should not have been put in the game. Also they should have had a bat transformation for easier transportation in the game or use it as an offensive weapon...

I agree. Dracula sneaking around really cheapens his epicness but im still early in the game hopefully that doesnt last long

Guess who was the forum poster from the CVDungeon that brought light to Alvarez's wicked ways?

:win:

That said, I liked the game more than the first one (cept the ending) it's a shame that internal problems prevented it from becoming a true GOAT.

My last checkpoint was where i didnt want to be.

Dont restart the mission whatever you do. YOU LOSE EVERYTHING. ALL XP, ALL UPGRADES, EVERYTHING!

I had a feeling about that before hand. i also notice there's no exit to main menu on the pause screen.

How did you find out about Alvarez wicked ways.

Saw it on a Spanish gaming forum, translated it (poorly) though Google, posted it at the Castlevania Dungeon forum, dudes fluent in Spanish corrected it and it was posted on Neogaf soon after and blew up.

And just now, another Mercurysteam employee basically confirmed everything that was rumored.

28/02/ UPDATE - Spanish website "Vadejuegos" confirmed with their own sources if the info posted here was true. Their results next:
- Vadejuegos is in position of confirming the story and clarifying some aspects of it.
- Development of Casltevania was very problematic due to leadership and communication problems.
- "Development problems are basically what was posted online".
- "In the end, the lead end up being the person who has been here for the most time or laughs the most at Alvarez' jokes"
- "Being creative there is complicated. People's ideas don't get anywhere. Rafael Jimenez, art director got tired of that and ended up in Tequila. They had him hand tied. He said "Well, here you remain with your brilliant ideas"".
- "Jimenez did the first game's art which was awesome, and (thanks to his departure) this second one is a Frankenstein. There is a power struggle. Some parts are pretty, some aren't".
- "This Castlevania ended up being a little weird due to that. Each department goes with itself and there is no internal communication".
- "They mistreat their people. They.. distrust themselves. It's a very weird ambient, very little creative"
- Relating the stealth sections: "Some of us said, "But what is this? Are we really doing this? Why rats? Really?". Those things were bad and talked between us. This has been like this for 2 years, not before.
- "There weren't any meetings. We found out things llots of times by the press".
- Regarding the first post veracity: "It's not true (that I know of) that Konami is displeased with the game. That can't be known yet".
- "The delay didn't involve out pocket's money (that we know of) it was the normal thing caused by a production of this size.
- Alvarez has been contacted.

This game is :banderas:
I JUST did the terrible stealth sequence that I think fueled the bad reviews and yeah...it's AWFUL but it's short, just like all of the other stealth sections. The combat is unfukkwithable though:ahh:

just started the game, i'm up to the point i beat medusa and her sisters, and so far the game is fun...from the lil bit I've played, you can tell majority of the game is gonna be about combat, combat, and more combat...which I love...i also like that you get all your powers back early in the game....of course you have to power them up, but you get them all back within the first couple levels....which is great since the game is about combat...only complaints so far: that stealth shyt sucks...I understand it cause you're underpowered at first, but that shyt just sucks....also, the camera, and whomever thought of making the block button the dodge button.....i try to block and end up on the other side of the room.....

...anyway, overall i'm digging the story, combat, and exploring...that's all you can ask for in a game like this....

Yeah this game has some of the best boss battles from a western developed game.

I agree. It's up there with the DMC boss creations(especially the third one). I think the game would have been better if they would have scrapped the modern day, prevent the apocalypse elements that was basically lifted from the DMC reboot and came up with a better ending. I, personally could live with the stealth aspects of the game(actually, I thought that was genius and that the devs would elaborate on that). In my opinion, I would rate this game an 8.0.
