Catching Fire might be better than The Hunger Games but the plot is BS

just cause (and i assume if you watch the trailer you know this semi spoiler) the plot just redoes the hunger games again. then again Mockingjay shows what the series becomes when the book isn't centered around another doing another Hunger Games and it ain't pretty.

anybody that read the books have any thoughts on this?

The 2nd book is mainly the Capitol plotting to kill Katniss. The 75th games (which is called the quarter quell) will have all victors from the past. Which will automatically be entered into the reaping. Kinda sad if you think about it.

District 12 is blown to shyt.

Meanwhile in district 13....

I thought that the 2nd book made perfect sense considering that what happened at the end of the 1st book wasn't supposed to happen. They threw everything at them an Peeta and Katniss both survived. The 75th Games was a way to punish them for thinking they could pull a fast one on the Capitol.

the issue with the movies is they dont have katniss narrating. so to someone who read the books, the movies seem very different, at least to me.

you can see in the preview for the new movie, you see a lot more things happening that you didnt know were happening while you read the 2nd book.

books are clearly better, but the movies arent trash.

:whew:

SPOILERS all up in this bish. Glad I read the books.

But to your point, I brought up in another thread that I didn't think the book would translate well to film for that very same reason @winb83
the spoiler i posted is unavoidable if you watch the trailer. saying Mockingjay isn't about a third hunger game tells you next to nothing about its plot.

I just got into this Divergent series cause people were comparing it to The Hunger Games and it ain't even seeing it. The first book gets good in the end when everything goes to shyt but I honestly don't believe we'll ever again see a YA series on the quality level of the first two Hunger Games books.

I just credit Katniss as being a solid main character that these other authors can't seem to compete with. The only other YA series character I feel comes close from what I read is Rose Hathaway and that's just cause she's a smart mouth a$$hole with authority issues who can't stay outta trouble.

saw the movie on Weds night, it was way better than the first, at least to me. they introduce more characters, and the this one is a lot closer to the book.

I've never read any of the books, thought the first movie was :ld:But I saw the new one and thought it was dope. much better-directed this time around and I walked away from it actually wanting to know how it all ends.

it also has a little more substance than the average blockbuster/movie aimed at teens. I thought the message it sent out in terms of how the media manipulates the masses and serves as a distraction was well done.
