Just got a Google Alert that it is a category 5
one of the bad things about getting so lucky in recent decades is people don’t take things as serious as they should
That was one of the positives, if one could say so, about the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Because of it, everyone knows now what a Tsunami looks like and the signs of it. Its recorded on the Internet of the effects. Jamaica has lucked out until now, but its a safe bet that there is going to be a higher count than normal, or more of a solid figure but with a disclaimer of "There was probably more, but we wouldn't know the true count."

Yes, but I’ll say one thing to root for is a potential eyewall replacement cycle to maybe lower the winds a bit, similar to Katrina, it won’t change the potential impacts especially when it comes to rain and surge but it would limit the worst case scenario.
Outside of that, there’s no shear or cool waters to stop it.
