“Our findings support an association between cat exposure and an increased risk of broadly defined schizophrenia-related disorders,” the authors wrote in their analysis, published in the journal Schizophrenia Bulletin.

“We found that individuals exposed to cats had approximately twice the odds of developing schizophrenia,” wrote the research team from the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research.

Is this one of those things where its just a correlation or is there actually something in cats that "causes" schizophrenia?
it drinks the blood of rats and assorted birds

so in theory a cat is basically a lovable vampire that may or may not prey on human beings :lupe:

Is this one of those things where its just a correlation or is there actually something in cats that "causes" schizophrenia?

Or is it something about schizophrenia that draws those individuals to owning cats? I'm not reading the article because speculating like this is more fun :jbhmm:
