Going into the 2011 and 2017 playoffs, the best team in the East wasn't clear-cut at all.

After the Bosh injury in 2012 and the Kyrie/Love injuries in 2015, the best team wasn't clear-cut anymore either.

Lebron's teams were the clear-cut best team in the East through the whole postseason in 2013, 2014, and 2016.
