This is typical behavior from a player who has always done only what is in his personal best interest, everybody else be damned. He’ll take every last dollar, and enjoy all the team-supplied resources for medical consultations, surgeries, rehabilitation programs and various therapists, only to ignore their professional opinions just because he feels like it. And don’t bother asking him for even token assistance in welcoming potential free agents either, because he doesn’t want to.


At this moment, John Paxson and Gar Forman are trying to win an NBA championship more in spite of Derrick Rose than because of him.


It doesn’t help anything that Rose is not among the brightest bulbs, and that he still lives in an insular camp of cronies that is too often at odds with his team. It was understandable for him to be shielded from Englewood gangs and other unsavory influences enough to get him a fair shot at a pro career, but enough already. He’s 25 years old, in his fifth NBA season, is worth a quarter-billion dollars and has a family of his own, yet his uneducated oaf of an older brother remains the empowered svengali.

This is the worst part and is the article, in a nutshell.

He blames Derrick Rose for the something the Bulls should have been doin', without him. Just because Lebron, allegedly, shunned the Bulls because Rose wouldn't talk to him, doesn't mean the Bulls are absolved off the responsibilities of building a championship team.

Granted; they are put in a horrible place after Rose misses the better of 3 calendar years--he is wack for puttin' it all on Rose.

And the personal attacks are overboard.

The local-kid-made-good storyline is over. He likes to let his game speak for him, but then refuses to play even when instructed to by doctors. He opts for cartilage repair that requires a longer-term recovery, and then lacks the basic understanding of how that changes the team’s title trajectory.

That's easy for the CEO, Execs and the like, who'll be makin' millions on millions past the age of 30, cuz, their nnumber one means of employment doesn't hedge on their bodies.

Only thing I agree with out of this whole article. You gotta be your own man eventually. I don't know if he knows how to make his brother take a back seat. Having BJ as his agent is a definite conflict with Bulls Mgmt too.

but ya feel me though. He just needs to sit down & address some of these issues and show his commitment to the Bulls (or not). I agree with one of the Bulls fans who says the Bulls need to construct a team that is less reliant on Rose and either get another star or start trying to stockpile draft picks. Based on the last couple years you can't rely on Rose anymore

My main gripe with the article is this guy bashing Rose for getting his cartilage repaired. That was clearly the right thing to do for Rose and the team. Everything else has mostly been said before.

I agree that Rose was incredibly selfish with what he did last season and it's true that he hasn't wanted to help the team recruit potential free agents too, which is also selfish.
