A Tennis Pro’s Parents Ask, ‘Are You Done Yet?’

nytimes had an article on Kristie Ahn the other day and her journey in the sport and how her parents look at it.

from 08 until last month made about 550k.
so that's about 11 years. That's about 50k per year.

It sounds good until you remember that it is an individual sport, so there is no team to cover for your expenses when you get hurt, or to provide your travel expenses to get to tournaments, or to pay for your playing equipment. And there's no league, so you aren't eligible for a pension like in the NFL, MLB, etc.

Exactly. These people ain't getting it

Working a normal job with 50k >>>>> Being an unknown tennis player making 50k

Traveling to Little Rock Arkansas to win $800 ain't the life
