Max contracts are not exclusively for superstars anymore. With the extra cap space someone is gonna overpay for certain players. If you got the cap space to keep one of your more valuable players and still retain flexibility to go out and improve your team,you have to do it. Especially if they have a specialty where they are one of the top players in the league at that specific ability and still are valuable in other areas. And the amount of money he's gonna get with this contract still isn't on par with players like Bron.
