He's definitely going to the HOF

CC got a Cy Young, a ring, and 250+ wins and 3,000 SOs and that's with a chunk of his career taking place during the Steroid era and playing primarily in the AL

If he was in better shape he might have done even more
I wouldn’t say “definitely”. His career ERA is closer to 4.00 than it is to 3.00. He was only sub 3.00 once in his career. Blyleven had more wins and a better ERA and it took him 14 years to get in….and he barely made it then. I like CC…but he’s no lock.

If he were this serious about his conditioning when he was still playing, he might’ve had a Hall of Fame career. Dude never looked in shape on the mound.

We see a fat dude and think out of shape, I don't necessarily agree. It's hella fat dudes we done seen dominate in baseball. With 250 wins to his name he's def a HOF'r

And like @WesCrook said he got older, fatter and wasn't as effective later in his career

Shiiit, some the swollest players in baseball stay hurt lol (Judge/Stanton)

251-161 pitching record
116 ERA+
1 Cy Young Award (and four Top 5 finishes)
3,093 strikeouts (16th all time, and only 2 other Lefties have more -- Randy Johnson and Steve Carlton)
Career WAR of 62.0 -- which for pitchers isn't elite (54th all time) but it's on the border of the greats. And there are HOFers with less (Marichal, Drysdale, Bunning, Rivera).
He was probably the pre-eminent workhorse pitcher of his era.
World Series champion
ALCS MVP

If you looked at his best 5 year peak (2007 to 2011), he put up 30.4 WAR, went 95-40 with a 3.09 ERA, 1,199 innings and 1,084 strikeouts, 170 starts, 21 complete games, and a Cy Young.
He's not an obvious HOFer. There is some debate to be had about him.

I'd lean towards inducting him.

An athlete should know his wheelhouse / comfort zone when it comes to playing weight and conditioning. :ehh:

Like if a DB puts on too much muscle mass to help with run support and pays for it with slower foot speed. Happened to me one season. Trial & error, live & learn. :beli: :francis:

LSU Derek stingley. He was a beast his freshman year but once he got a lil older he put on weight and been getting smoked. He still will end up going top 10. Crazy how nobody has educated him but oh well.

You can see the difference in his belly vs how lean he was his freshman year.

Not to derail the thread, but it mystifies me to no end how these 6 & 7 figure salary coaches fail to educate players on those little little details that make a world of a difference on performance :francis:

I saw a interview where he said he played better fat. He had more speed on his ball. I don’t watch baseball btw.

That’s the players job to come in shape. It’s the coach job to decide which player plays.
