I'm adding Jermaine Dupri to the list I think this video warrants it :coffee:

Nah son don't put JD up there lol. He was definitely soft shoeing but he's not a habitual offender. A lot of black celebrities straddle that fence because they don't want to fukk their money up. But that doesn't necessarily make them c00ns.

It's not about fukking money up....it's about being born in the middle or upper class and wanting to stay there.
JD and Kweli were both raised pretty privileged. They CAN'T RELATE now matter how much one of them tries to force it.
In theory, they should be doing the best for the community, since they're products of "black excellence"
Unfortunately, this isn't the case.

I was just about to ask you to elaborate brotha thanks and rep

it makes me think of Wayne, same kind of lifestyle although he may have started off poor that was a very short period in his life so his experiences wouldn't relate to a lower-low-middle class black american. I understand not being able to relate but when you make a profit off that which you don't relate to you will have to respond eventually or show some action and when the action is basically inaction or disrespect to that which you use to capitalize is when it becomes a problem. I don't know any person who makes money off something without having some base concept or beginning knowledge.

Now you can argue they don't make their capital off of black people at this point because of sponsors and advertisement deals but at the beginning of their careers the launchpad was black culture, they catered to a mostly black audience telling stories through music to which black people could relate.
