I’d there anything you don’t agree with that this administration does?
Off the top of my head: Increasing military spending, bombing Syria, tariff talk, appointing Sessions, negotiating with Dems, handling of the Muslim ban, promising to bring jobs back from China, mentioning coal, and not getting healthcare reform done.

What don’t you like about these?
Specifically the negotiations with dems, handling the Muslim ban, mentioning coal and healthcare reform.

Specifically the 1-negotiations with dems, 2-handling the Muslim ban, 3-mentioning coal and 4-healthcare reform.

1- In the current political climate, approaching Dems with anything other than contempt is a mistake in my opinion. Let Dems hang themselves with immigration reform.
2- It was sloppy. He could have got it through by simply not attaching religion/race to it. I supported the proposed travel restrictions before they were co-opted by nazi's.
3- Coal isnt coming back... and nothing Trump can do can bring it back. It was a stupid promise to a demographic that was going to vote for him anyway.
4- Healthcare just needs to be done. I wish they had been organized enough to get the block grant proposal through.

Is it single payer is inevitable or block grant proposals. :hula:
Caving to single payer and passing it under a republican controlled congress seems like the best thing to do at this point... at least you can use it going forward as republican "progress" or whatever, and mock Dems for not being able to get it done when they had control.
The quagmire that's been created by the ACA is just too much.

I wish they weren't so bad at governing... it shouldnt have been hard to frame the block grants as single payer or single payer light* :pachaha:

Healthcare needs to be addressed but we must treat dems with contempt while doing so. :mjlol:

Put a single payer/single payer light* package together and shyt on Dems the whole way... they can't vote against system that covers every American :mjlol: You literally make them irrelevant.

But proposing and voting for popular legislation would make them liberal. How is that a win for conservatives?

It further diminishes the Democrats.
It involves a concession that there is no truly conservative way forward on healthcare which in my opinion is a good thing for conservatives in general, as we stand to lose much more than we stand to gain by railing against single payer.

This kind of reminds me of some of the “what if’s” that get thrown around about WW2, such as what if Germany never attacked the Soviet Union or hadn’t committed themselves to the Holocaust. Sure they could’ve not done those things and maybe the war would’ve been different. But then they wouldn’t have been Nazi Germany

I say this not to make a direct comparison, but just to illustrate my point. Modern day Republicans are hostile to the idea of universal health care. The only reason they can’t be as explicit about that compared to 10 years ago is because people’s expectations around health care have changed.

So yeah, they could’ve done something like push for an actual single payer approach to health care to stick it to Democrats. But that would go against their philosophies toward governing. They’d have to have a whole shift in mindset for that to happen.
