Even that statement is overshoting a bit regarding Witcher 3. They no doubt changed the game with narrative, world-building and storyline consequences in a game, but the gameplay itself was just a step above mid (you know, the most defining thing about a game). Serviceable at best. Game was a bit bloated and long in the tooth too.

And the fact of the matter is, it's still a matter of Line-Stepping to say that 1 classic puts someone on par or above someone that has many of them. There newest game is already unprecedented for all the wrong reasons, lol.
I know we ain’t talking about “mid” gameplay then propping up rockstar and naughty dogg:stopitslime:

Yes, we're talking about Witcher 3's mid ass gameplay, that most certainly isn't better than the bulk either R* or Naughty Dogs games' gameplay (possibly lopsided comparison for the latter; different genres), and also, isn't on par or better than most of its contemporaries gameplays either (other open world, action/adventure/rpg game types). You disagree, don't care.

Yeah, its all subjective, I personally put more hours into witcher 3 then every game listed in this thread. Not every game is for everyone. I like role playing/rpg games...the sandbox shoot em ups aren’t my cup of tea anymore

I put more hours into the Witcher 3 as well, but that's cuz the game is long as shyt. Too long even. I've enjoyed some shorter games more and coincidentally enjoyed some games that I played for just as long even better. It is what it is.

Not an apt comparison as they are different games but in their respective genres the gameplay in naughty dogg and rocktar games is the definition of MID. There’s more challenge and strategy in the Witcher 3 by far.

Negative on both accounts. Only thing right you've said is what I already stated in the comparisons being off cuz of the genre differences.

random but I’d like to see ND try their shot at an RPG

whatever the case I hope they come up with a new IP this gen

Same but part of me wants them to just make TLOU a trilogy and properly wrap up the saga

I’d like to see the series end on a somewhat optimistic path like the first game

the revisionism about gta v is hilarious
if rockstar dropped another gta in 2018 or 2019 yal would be talking about the nostalgia of the GTA V release.
but cause they milked gta online it leaves a sour taste in your mouth
for a game that came out in 2013 it was absolutely ridiculous how immersive and detailed that game was even on old architecture like the ps3 and 360.
The base of players that still play this game to this day speaks to how much of a hold it has on people

nikkas in the extreme minority hating on consensus classics dropped by naughtydog and rockstar....just to be different :mjlol:

again, you're in the extreme minority and 9 out of 10 people would disagree with you...and you're attaching childhood nostalgia to san andreas and I say that as someone whose favorite gta is san andreas.
bro talking about stagnancy about a franchise whose last single player story came out 8 years ago lol
you playing san andreas again? I'm not playing any gta game over again....cause them shyts old :mjlol:....not cause they were bad or overrated
whenever they drop gta 6 its going to be crowned by consumers and critics again for a few years....then people will be upset they dont have anything new for single player after a few years

They are in terms of ambition and ideology, they just have much sloppier management. The devs are quite good but they arent on the same page with management.

i think the issue is that its a split between what people consider immersive

cyberpunk is a great looking world when its working properly, its beautiful to observe the setting that they created

its nowhere near as immersive as red dead redemption and arguably not even on the same level as skyrim because there's very little to actually participate and interact with outside of the main story and side quests

i felt like the gameplay in red dead redemption became mid at a certain point but i stuck with it because not only was the setting interesting, the fact that it was a multitude of random events that could happen while just exploring the world was mad engaging; the decisions that you made during these events could change small parts of the narrative in meaningful ways

it was the same thing with skyrim in the fact that there were spontaneous events that could happen while exploring a cave or just walking between cities that really made it feel like effort was put in to make it immersive

for what its worth i had a great time in what little bit of cyberpunk i could play through, but finding out that once the main questline was done there was nothing you could do in night city that wasnt a scripted, non-spontaneous quest made it a dub - as an open world its mad hollow, its just things to look at but nothing to actually interact with
you just said, after finishing the main quest. you just told on yourself. this is a single player game. not an online living and breathing world.
there's a reason i personally skip 99.9% of all single player games. and its for this very reason. i hate to have games that have an ending, even good ones. because once you finish the game, thats pretty much it, unless you go back and do side quests. then you have to wait on DLC to make it interesting again.

when i say cyberpunk is immersive, very immersive..."when it works" is because its true while playing the main story line. this game is a movie. play it as such. movies have endings. they just let you hang around the studio and backlot after the movie is over. so now you get to see the outer portions of the making of cyber punk more or less. not that fun. but it wasnt meant to be. as a whole, as a movie play thru of the main story line while dabbling in side quest. this game is very immersive. you have to give it that credit.

Read Dead, looks beautiful, but again its also during a time that is not current day or future current day as cyber punk is. cyber punk is set in a workd 57 years from now. that aint that far off. and the look of the game looks more realistic to what it could be then any of these other future games that are out and have been out. which makes it a harder sell to each gamer. because we live in todays current time. we can some what imagine what it will be like in 50 years. we think of the past in a nostalgic way.

do you bruhs see how many npcs are in the game? how much traffic is out there? and then how its still a lot of people late at night early morning, but not a lot out and about, just like real life. thats immersive because its literally like real life.

the fact that this game has melee weapons that cause different types of body damage that you can physically see is also immersive. even if at times it may be a bit too much. lol

i bash some person in the head with a heavy enough weapon and their bleeding like crazy from the head. i bash someone that has a ton of cyber augmentation done on them the same way and they bleed white looking stuff instead of blood. why? because they are more robot than human. those little details, make the game immersive(when it actually plays without the bugs).

to my knowledge. this game may have the most npcs, and traffic and goings on within a few block radius during the day of any game. GTA included.

you know whats missing from most of these space sim like games? people, and the hustle and bustle of a city. you see a few npcs here and there. but its never filled up like a real city. night city is packed. you fee like its a bit too many people in the city during the day, especially in the hood parts. just like real life in certain cities.
