That article is written poorly. Pythagorean Thereom has been proven several times over, it just hasn't been proven using trigonometry yet, until now ... which is still impressive because it was the final frontier.

I knew about this story when it happened but I thought they solved it together. No, they each solved it with different proofs. Then came together to discover 5 more proofs and found a general format that could potentially produce 5 additional proofs
