Made the Eastern conference semi-finals in 2012, teams have spent a decade plus in last place and getting lottery picks, Sixers are on their 4th season. Philadelphia is not a very attractive destination for free agents they're doing what they have to do to build a contender. No one wants to see them be a 6-8 seed out in the 1st or 2nd round every season.

That's irrelevant to my point, if anything it furthers my point, they could've never made the semis without Rose going down, and they didn't have cap space to add anyone else at that time, if someone even would've wanted to join a slightly above average team that had no real chance at contending. So they did what they had to do, destroy and rebuild. And for what it's worth they took the Celtics to 7 in the semis that year.
