:patrice:Did he really mismanage his finances this poorly that he took a 2 year deal on a lottery team over chasing a ring for slightly less money? He still has 11 mil coming in each of the next 2 seasons from his previous contract...

The minutes he can earn with the Celtics going into next season are unlimited, and he will be giving a chance to prove himself on a young team. As opposed to going somewhere like Golden State where he would probably rack up DNP's and be in an uncertain situation heading into the offseason..

:yeshrug: when dude was coaching at Butler he was like the next great white hope. Now he's in Boston and I never hear about dude.

I'd say, right now... He's one of the top 5 strategic coaches in the NBA.

Problem is, the Celtics are asscheeks. But he puts them in position to be competitive most games, and probably coaches them to 8-10 more wins than their talent deserves. He's legit.

It will be interesting to see if a college is willing to back up the Brinks truck for him, and if he decides to hop back to the NCAA where you field your own talent.

I watch enough games to see how well he's coaching them. He drew up an excellent play last night for Zeller with under 2 seconds to play to win the game. Plus, he's managing a ever changing roster of veterans and young players seemingly without a hiccup.

I like that he's kept Thomas on the bench so far and kept him under 30 minutes a night too. He's got just the right amount of juice in that pacing to then have him really fill up the frame in the 4th quarter.
