Other than random Face turns by Kane and Big Show, no there aren't enough Main Event Level faces to accommodate a heel turn by Cena. The writers were "playing it safe" and "lazily writing" by not elevating mid-card faces to Main Event Level.

They just turned punk instead of cena... obviously they can't turn him now as long as punk is heel but they could've on the 1000th episode or anytime before that
