Now I know that's a long shot. But a MAJOR overlooked factor in Romans inability to get completely over is, how can he be the guy when Cena is still looked at as the guy by casuals. And even marks like us.
That's the real disconnect with Roman, it's not Bryan, or promo's or booking him like a "BadAss" even tho, those are very real factors. I just think subconsciously for people. Nobody can take Cenas spot as long as Cena is in Cena's spot. People have a 10 year connection with Cena. The logic is "fukk this guy, Cenas gonna get the belt back eventually anyway."
Triple H can't pass a torch he never had. So Cena has to put Roman over. It's crazy because Cena is so ingrained in our minds as top guy. People don't even fantasy book people over him. We forget Traditionally that's what "putting over" the new face is. Rock did it for Brock, Hogan for Warrior, Andre for Hogan, Flair for Sting and so on. Cena has to put Reigns over.
Him having an Injury works into him being a cowardly heel. He can cut Promos and really turn the people against him. Because you don't want people to cheer him being bad. So I would have his reasoning be "all the new guys, trying to take his spot. AJ, Reigns, Ambrose, Cesaro, he saved The Authority because things are fine just the way they've been for the past ten years." Something like that.
You really have to make him anti Neckbeard/Smark. Cuz they r going to want to cheer him. I dunno, I'm fantasy booking now didn't want to get to deep into that. Just a thought.
