Jive didnt know they couldve made more money with e-40 and too short, when they was moving, same with spice 1 and e-40, that was a collab album long over due...

same with eiht n spice, but jive didnt let alot of ther artist work with other labels, only rapper who had alot of freedom to do it was mystikal, only because he was making jive n no limit money together, and p up some money to get a piece of him.

The album that probaly woulda saw the least money is the one I wanna see the most before I die:ohlawd:...that 40 and Blegit album I know would be classic,I never really thought Short and 40 had GREAT chemistry, they made some dope songs just bcuz they both dope...but 40 and The Savage is just next level shyt:heh:...they collabs today still be cold as fuk and Legit spittin better than ever

Rap was never skill driven

I understand why you think this, you started listening to rap with Tha Carter 3
He could make himself sound better by surrounding himself lesser talented homies then himself who MAYBE help him make more organic and better music, but then you'd have the problem of hearing the wack homeboys he came up with, and you'll be thinking "I wish only big sean was on this song:ohhh:"

So it could go either way imo....I think we need more producers in the game, not dudes who just make beats but those guys who could give a artisict direction, focus and make album not sound like its all over the place...and tell a artist when something is not meeting a certain standard and needs work....and some of these dudes just shouldn't be on like they are on...and should be local talent

I see what you sayin better now though,I just barely wanna hear these nikkas by theyself, letalong with other wacker nikkas
No he needs to surround himself with better rappers

Steel sharpens steel

U look at good groups, everyone brings something to the table. I dont know what Big Sean could bring to the table, but thats the beauty of a group.... if u dont want to be the wack nikka u better figure it out. Which will make for better music overall

The problem is that the group idea sounds good, til you hear one of the rappers in the group impress you more than the others and then you'll say

"he should do a solo record"

All the industry is doing is skipping those early steps.

as in? i know a lot of dudes like him...and it may be that he's not my cup of tea...but dude would be much better as a complimentary piece of a duo or trio, his different sound would compliment a pure spitter. his uniqueness is not enjoyable for a full album's worth of material in the same way cudi is

He's just not your cup of tea. He's toured worldwide off a mixtape. He would be dumb as hell to follow your advise
People (including myself) love him as a solo artist.

I totally agree with OP...I mean think about it...if the Wu somehow came out today, you'd have U-God dropping a solo album straight out the gate lol

Naw but for real most of today's rappers just don't have enough charisma/flair/style/whatever you want to call it to keep things interesting long enough. That's my main beef with K.dot for example, I'm bored as fukk three songs in GKMC (still haven't managed to listen to it in one setting). Same with Badass imo, even guys like Ab-Soul...

To go back to the Wu example you could feel that they fed off each other...Rza said they battled to get on tracks (hell you even have Chef vs Meth on Tical)...and then the chemistry kept building, guys finishing other's bars, shouting each other out...they give you different styles. Masta Killa said that he learned is craft from Gza if I'm not mistaken, and I think that both Ghost and Rae benefited from each other...I look at their "solo" albums as group albums with more emphasis on one particular member (Ironman even has a track without Ghost lol)...

I'm from the 90s so I'm more used to groups I admit, but I see it as a team, and I'd rather watch the Knicks than just Ewing, if you see what I mean. And I'm def not trying to watch just my main man Oak lol

I think that is true in the case of steel, but if you not steel you will be exposed as not being steel:usure:...on the other hand I do think rappers can make great music when they with they homeboys bcuz nikkas make better music when they havin fun and who to have more fun with in the studio then the homies...u just got the wack homeboys to deal with

Game needs more steel bruh

I am for anything that exposes the weakness in the game. If nikkas wanna be cotton candy rappers cool but then dont fukk with legit dudes. Dont try to be something ur not, dont claim to be the best when ur wack.

Its true tho, best music comes from groups with their homeboys... damn near every rap dynasty made their best music when everyone was happy together and coming up (Cash Money, Dipset, Wu Tang, Rocafella, Bone Thugs anybody)

Yeah, 40 n short dont are nowhere near the chemistry of him n the savage or him n spice,

Too short only sounded good next to goldy and pimp c , pimp was working on that one, but he died.

savage and e-40 shouldve been had like 3-4 albums out already.
