took it from reddit but i wanted to see what all of you thought :jbhmm:

I'll preface this by saying that this is obviously all just one guy's opinion. If you downvote, fair enough. But hopefully you read it before downvoting.

Go back and watch Cesaro's backstage segment with Triple H. Then go watch Table for 3. Then go watch something else where he's on camera backstage or interviewing.

Cesaro can talk fine when he wants to. He's not amazing, but he's okay. He has an accent but that hasn't held back top foreign stars before.

Cesaro's main problem that's holding him back is that he doesn't seem comfortable being on camera unless he's wrestling. He awkwardly smiles, rarely changes his facial expression, and his body language is very rigid most of the time.

I'd say that's the reason Cesaro gets more cheers from his matches than he does from his entrance. He comes out of his shell once he can start wrestling, you can tell that he's infinitely more comfortable when the bell rings. That's when he connects with the audience and that's why they cheer so much louder as the match goes on.

But we all know that's not enough. Like it or not, a top star has to do promos, backstage segments, talk show appearances, public events, etc. I can't see Cesaro currently excelling at that. It doesn't seem to be a lack of confidence, though. I think it's more that he's constantly aware that he's on camera. If he can teach himself to be aware of the camera's position without focusing too much on the camera's function, I think he'll be much better off.

The good thing is that with experience comes comfort. As Cesaro's slowly moving up the card, he'll get more and more comfortable, so it could only be a matter of time until we see him get used to it and start acting more naturally, as he does in the ring.

The guy has a natural charisma, you can tell just by watching him work. I think he just needs to loosen up a little bit in order to let that shine through.

Edit: Just adding this little bit on the end. A lot of people are saying they consider someone's comfort on screen and presence to be the same as mic skills. I don't see it that way, but if you do, just...I dunno...ignore the second half of the title?

His problem is he's uncomfortable with this own personality in front of the camera when he has to work. Anyone can shoot the shyt when they don't have to get a message across or there is nothing at stake. When he's in the ring, he's like Benoit, just goes to work and handles his bidness.

but he's shy, and I'm actually at the point where I auto skip every time he talks, just too embarrassing watching shy people try to talk

Same thing for dbryan until he started to figure out the little things to translate

Because bryan on the mic cutting promos or interacting with another guy would break character or crack a smile or laugh when it wasnt needed but he was solid enough to stay believable enough to not ruin a segment

Cesaro should just be pushed as the inverse of what roman reigns started off as

I dont understand why this is still a thing, as if WWE never pushed wrestlers based on their athletic prowess despite their shortcomings on the mic

He's always been like that. When he was in the indies, he seemed loose with Chris Hero. Someone on that thread suggested Kidd being his manager and I agree. Kidd being his hype man like Gedo would be :ahh:

cesaro isn't the problem, it's the E. it was obvious cesaro should've turned baby face and jack swagger heel after the real American split with those two in a full-length rivalry that would've set cesaro up as a solo star (then maybe have him compete for the IC belt). instead they pair him with heyman who would spend all of his promo talking about brock and the streak while cesaro was in the back looking out of place. it killed all of cesaro's momentum and then he started becoming jobber status:snoop: if the E wants you, they'll push you like they're doing reign. I just hope cesaro doesn't fall into the same box as ziggler, or worst sandow :why:

I'm actually happy that Cesaro is being referred to as "the wrestler" right now. I see that as a good space for him & it's planting the seed with fans that he's the fukking man between the ropes when the bell rings, and all that sports entertainment is just noise. I think more could have been done at the minute, especially with Lesnar, Orton, Cena AND Rollins all off TV but that's Vince for ya.
