For the love of god why won't they switch to regular football in the CFL. They would be much bigger as a league if they played on the same sized field, same rules, and have four downs like American football. I literally see no benefit other than pride of having different rules than college and the NFL.
-Wished Donald Trump hadn't ruined the USFL back in the day. It started up after the Superbowl was over and ended right before NFL preseason started![]()
Wouldn't doubt thatCFL is entertaing to watch in person breh. Cheap tickets, nice atmopshere![]()
But isn't the NFL pretty big in Canada? I don't think switching rules would be catering to American audiences. It would imo make the league more visible. What sports league in this world doesn't want to become bigger and more profitable?? I wouldn't say sh*t if Canadians hated the NFL and only love the CFL, but this isnt' the case. And why ostracize the US.. we share NHL, NBA, MLB, and MLS together? It wouldnt matter, league is as big as its going to get...They arent catering to a US audience and if they go american rules theyll lose the small niche audience they have right now...

Wouldn't doubt that

Cfl been around since 1958
Minus hockey it gets the highest ratings in Canada, minus a few cities its the hottest ticket in town
problem is its gets viewers in the smallest TV markets that dont matter...Nobody cares in Toronto,Montreal or Vancouver.
Even that Edmonton home opener had a half empty stadium...
Ratings are ratings brehs
Actually people care in Toronto now there are bmo
CFL games have higher ratings than Raptors games head to head breh. Not saying its remotely near the same product but theres a significant # of cacs who would watch CFL before anything other than hockey. Grey Cup games and the CFL playoffs are biggest TV ratings draw in Canada outside of the Stanley Cup final.problem is its gets viewers in the smallest TV markets that dont matter...Nobody cares in Toronto,Montreal or Vancouver.

Only in the ECF and that was the worst ratings performance ever for the NHL.Raptors playoff games out drew the Stanley Cup this year....
They don't need to compete for the top players from college. They don't need to compete with college or the NFL at all imo. All I'm saying is there is always room and a need for football on tv, especially in the summer. The CFL is a football product. They have teams, stadiums, infrastructure, tv contracts, fanbases, etc... Why play a off-shoot brand of football especially when everyone including Canadians loves 'regular' styled football? Don't compete with college and the NFL but align yourself with the 'football product' which is a cash cow and a non-stop machine. The Raptors and Jays don't play an offshoot brand of baseball or basketball. The Southern and West Coast NHL teams don't play an offshoot style of hockey. I just don't get it. Its such small minded thinking imoI meant to say cater to fans that prefer the NFL and american rules which probably equals CFL fans up here...in some high schools they play 4 downs and not CFL rules...My point is they dont have much to gain by changing the rules at this point in time...They have a decent fanbase out west and TV contract...I dont think they could get any bigger, without trying to compete for the top college players and that wont ever happen...

Those are first rate professional franchises that just happen to play in Canada. The comparision to them would be if Canada had an NFL team. They don't need to compete for the top players from college. They don't need to compete with college or the NFL at all imo.
