so @Miggs
is marc trestman a joke?

Stop playing hyperbole breh....You will get the odd coach or player who can make it in the NFL who slipped thru cracks, lets not act like Trestman,Moon,Theismann are the rule and not exception...for every ONE of those guys you have 100 Darren Fluties...

Breh you follow this crap you know the import rules...The league is littered with guys like Dressler and Getzlaf type bums with no speed or size...Dudes in here think cuz Theisman Moon and Jeff Garcia played here briefly its alot of top NCAA recruits when its not....You have a ton of import limitations that allow Lil Timmy and Lil Gaston to play football in the CFL...

dressler is not a import, and dressler is on the kansas city chiefs now

feel good about him.” Dave Toub, Chiefs Special Teams Coordinator, said. “He catches the ball well. He probably is our best catcher. That’s good for him.”

Dressler is also receiving high praise from head coach Andy Reid.

“I like his quickness and I like him in the slot,” Coach Reid noted. “He’s got great quickness there. That’s what he played in Canada, he played in that area. You can see he’s got a real feel in there and good quickness that goes with it.”

there is nothing wrong with import rules, its a canadian game.

the premier league is considering the same thing

and its not mls status, soccer has so many leagues in so many countries and so many divisions.

For football its either the NFL or CFL thats it, and cfl is not at all like the nfl

cfl players are smaller, the game is on a bigger field, only 3 down football.

Point i was making is relative...MLS is a 3rd rate league that lacks top talent in its sport and CFL despite it being the only other league lacks talent to make it competitive or even watchable....You have many guys in this league that only play professional football because it exists....

unwatchable?
cfl is the highest rated program on tv minus hnic , it doesn't lack top end talent, you dont even watch. The players are differnt and smaller, a 5'7 160lb wr will rarely cut it in the nfl but in the cfl on the bigger field with room to run he will

cameron wake didnt cut in the nfl in his first go around because he was a lb, it took coming to the cfl where players are smaller and his size at lb made him become a defensive end that got him back in the nfl

your hate for the cfl is disgusting

CFL where Anthony Calvillo is a HOFer :mjlol::mjlol:

most passing yards and tds in football why wouldn't he be a hofer?

even marc trestman said calvillo could have played in the nfl

Trestman's a quarterback guru who's produced spectacular NFL seasons from the likes of Scott Mitchell, Jake Plummer and Rich Gannon, and he spent five seasons with Calvillo as his quarterback (winning two Grey Cups and going to a third in the process), so he knows whereof he speaks on both counts here. Here's what he told Carpenter:

Trestman, who coached Calvillo the last five years in Montreal, thinks he would have been Drew Brees if put in the right NFL offense.

"You look at him and you say, 'How can he play in the NFL, he's got a long motion and he's not the right size,' but I think in an offense like the one Joe Montana ran he would have been a great, great NFL quarterback," Trestman says.

Quiet as kept, if prospects so concerned with not gettn paid while goin to college they should go fukk with the CFL. @Emperor_ReinScarf do the league got an age limit/college requirement?

nope there is no min age limit,

this guy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_James

played in teh cfl at age 17
A graduate of Kelvin High School in Winnipeg, James started his CFL career in 1952 when he became one of the youngest players ever to play in the CFL, at only 17 years old. (Tommy Manastersky was several months younger when he joined the Montreal Alouettes in 1946).

These high school prospects better start asking themselves some questions. They can go to college and not get paid but if they really want to get paid and still play football fade that CFL, shyt would prolly breed some sick ass receivers for the NFL. :whew:

years ago bryce brown almost did
http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/02/04/bryce-brown-to-the-cfl/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

Brian Butler, the controversial manager of the top-ranked football recruit, Bryce Brown, is open to the idea. Butler told The Times that if approached by a Canadian Football League team, he’d consider sending Brown there.

Butler said he planned to have someone explore the possibility of Brown playing in the C.F.L. next season. “If they were talking about any amount of real money, I’d guarantee it,” Butler said of Brown potentially playing in the C.F.L. He mentioned a C.F.L. team paying Brown $5 million a year for three years.

He added: “We’re not playing around. I can promise you that. I’m not scared at all to do anything, and Bryce isn’t either. Hey, he’ll hurt your feelings. He’s not worried about your feelings. He’s worried about what’s right and what’s wrong.”

Brown would be eligible to play in the C.F.L., because there’s no minimum age limit. In the N.F.L., a player has to be three years removed from his high school graduation class. But Brown’s price tag could be a hitch in Butler’s plans: C.F.L. teams have $4.2 million salary cap … per team.

Still, this notion raises an interesting possibility. Could we actually see a player leave an American high school and go straight to Canada?
