Back in the 2000s growing up, I was subscribed to SI for like over 10 years.
I remember like yesterday they had this big article on Chad. I was a big fan of him at the time so I was excited to read it.
Was a great article, but one thing I remember was someone close to him was quoted as saying he was worried about Chad financially because he spends money hella recklessly.
Then when Chad retired he started doing all that financial talk, about wearing fake jewelry and all that kind've stuff. Always thought it was a bit suspicious.

As youngsters you wanna stunt but as you get older and the checks start drying up you change your mindset. I think he simply forgot about this locker or didnt care about it. You essentially have 2-3 months to prevent your locker from going to auction.
Facts he probably learned his lessons along the way.
He was doing that when he was playing. There were many news stories about how cheap he was. I remember there was a segment where they followed him to Claire's to get his ears pierced in the mall and he bought a bunch of fake studs and said he only wore fake jewlery. They had another where he showed that he lived in the Bengal's stadium and said it was stupid to pay for housing when he could live there for free.
