Fun fact: A few years before my major label deal I walked into LA Reid’s Def Jam office and had to “audition” for him for a chance to get signed. I was told that J Kwon had previously jumped on his desk and took off his shirt when he performed and that got him signed. Y’all know I wasn’t doing that.

I tried to explain about my previous success but he told me that’s not how he decides who becomes a star. He felt he could see the future based on a quick artist performance.

After I left that day I was told that LA said I didn’t have the “it factor” and he didn’t believe I had the potential to be a successful artist.

I’m thankful that God had different plans
