NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that the standards in the league's new drug policy will apply to players retroactively. In other words, Broncos WR Wes Welker will be allowed to play as soon as the policy is in place. The players are expected to vote on the policy "in the next few days." That gives Welker a chance to play in this Sunday's game against the Chiefs. We'll continue to track this situation, but Welker needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Check yours to see if he was dropped. As for Browns WR Josh Gordon, his situation is "more complicated," according to Rapoport. 2014 suspensions will fall under the new policy, but Gordon's occurred in the 2013 league year. "Wait and see on him," Rapoport says.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the NFL and NFLPA are "hoping to finalize" a new drug agreement by Thursday night.

Per Schefter, it would be an agreement in which "suspensions will wind up being overturned." It remains unclear if that includes Josh Gordon, whose most recent positive test came during the 2013 league year. It's been reported the new agreement will only address positive tests from the 2014 league year.

Appearing on ESPN's NFL Insiders Thursday, Adam Schefter reported Josh Gordon would still be looking at a suspension in the event of a new drug agreement, possibly in the range of 6-10 games.

Per Schefter, the NFL and NFLPA are hoping to finalize a new agreement by Thursday evening. It's suspected Wes Welker's ban will be wiped out, but Gordon's case is trickier since his positive test came during the 2013 league year. At the end of the day, we're unlikely to know Gordon's fate before the league makes an official announcement. There's simply too much conflicting information right now.

Another update...pulling all these from Rotoworld

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo predicts an eight-game suspension for Josh Gordon if the NFL and NFLPA agree to a new drug policy.

Garafolo's "educated guess" is based on information from a variety of sources. Garafolo emphasizes that things are changing "minute to minute." ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported the sides would like to reach an agreement by Thursday evening, but it's not considered a slam dunk

I hope the president of NOW has Josh Gordon on her fantasy squad. Help the kid out :damn:

Why 8 games?

He got two games for breaking the substance abuse policy and if the standard is raised he he didn't violate it a second time

The DWI he got hit with would be a pending punishment because under the new proposal he would have to be prosecuted from the legal system first for the crime before getting disciplined by the NFL.

What else would he have done to get hit with 8 games for?

Edit: nevermind I guess he will get hit with violating the policy in 2013 as oppose to 2014....

The timing of when he failed the last drug test. He failed it during last season. If it had happened during the offseason (like Welker), it'd be a different situation apparently. Regardless, doesn't make a ton of sense. He should just agree not to sue in exchange for a full reversal (esp. since they'll probably get him on the DUI next season at some point).
