"on the mic like its a d##k" - Chance.

Before you dismiss this thread, consider this....
Chance The Rapper is on the Divergent soundtrack. That hottest movie in America and he's on the soundtrack.
He's also got a song with Justin Bieber. And Rolling Stone's mixtape of the year.
Yet nobody's ever even heard the dude.

all of those artist came up because of their talent...they got the streets buzzing because they were a breath of fresh air.
The backlash is this dude is getting on the same way as Macklemore...actually, its worse than Macklemore, because Macklemore actually had a catchy hit record that was getting past along...this Chance cat doesnt have a hit record.
I listened to some of his stuff on Youtube and its just not me.
and im an OG "hipster"...I know how lame some of these cats that listen to rap are.
Since y'all have made a 50th thread on the same topic again with a dumb repetitive coli spin, let me go ahead and respond with another popular coli spin...
sounds like y'all up in arms about a young brotha gettin some paper. I think you know just what we call that
c00ns

It's a different day man, it's 2014. You'd probably break down crying if you knew the really real of how "rap stars" were created before the internet got popping and we all became street corner A&Rs

the music industry was always full of chit.
but the plant chit is alot more prevalent now than in the past. especially in hip-hop.
I actually don't think [what you're calling 'plant'] is more prevalent, mainly due to the fact that the industry has been in a depression the better part of the last 10 years. I think we just know too fukking much, simple and plain.
I guarantee you the number of artists receiving maximum exposure [from their record label] is lower than it was 15 years ago. The difference now is artists have the wherewithall to push themselves.
The irony here is that in any other line of business this would be considered a model for success, the whole doing less with more concept...
