But it's true. I'm not even trying to dog on the south but they don't have any exceptional urban areas. Every other region has one good city. The south hasn't found one yet.

I love city planning and in general the south is :scusthov: for a large amount of people. It's basically one big suburb. I don't like suburban living.

The Charleston style house, shotgun house, southern colonial style homes. fukk outta here. Louisiana has some of the best architecture style homes in the us.

Unfortunately style of residence isn't the whole hand. NO in a whole scale can be great, they just leave too much of the land open and residential areas are really shytty. Imagine if the majority of the city was like the French quarter. :ahh:

what makes ny look so nice, the buildings?

It isn't so much the buildings as it is to what they represent. There's alot of life in the buildings. You get a better sense of unity living inside of a dense city. On top of that, things are normally within foot distance, and if not there's also a good transit system to serve the people.

NY's big problem is the lack of greenery. They have no space for that, and all you get is concrete. If they could plant a couple thousand trees, grass, and get better parks they'd be better off. Chicago solves this with it's large amount of parks, trees and grass lining the sidewalks. It's inherently more green, and it looks wonderful from spring-fall.

Er uh...

Oklahoma City is not in the South, young life...

Sure it is, and it suffers the same problems as the others.

You might mean it doesn't feel the same as other southern cities but is most definitely located in the south of the USA.

Everyone else had the smarts to put their two cents in, but I can see you don't have that capability. :mjlol:

I'm not required to bruh

downtown OKC/Bricktown is nice.

Houston has some pretty crappy parts too, and I would know.

:what: you shytting on other cities architecture for how it looks and being "bland" then when you describe the "great" NYC buildings you skip over how they look and go to what they represent. :stopitslime: you're just digging yourself deeper into the hole of stupidity

Because areas of residence in the south are predominately homes with little around them and low density for other structures. It's very "face value". You don't have to explain anything other than the origin of design. An apartment complex in NY has a better explanation because of what's around it as much as what's inside.

I'll admit it was unfair to to simplify the housing down there, but that's what it is. A home down there is the bulk of residency. Yeah you might have the elaborate French Colonial style and et cetera but that's pretty much it. It's very simple. A home is usually is single family, land space for the yard or whatever, then it's on to the next house. Economic centers are few and far. You get the luxury of having some nature and quiet, but that's nothing you cannot accomplish by moving into the suburbs near larger cities.

An apartment complex in NY requires further explanation, because of the density in the area allows for much more than just house, grass, house, grass found in the suburbs and the south. There's muuuuuch more human life, much more of an economic factor influencing the residential area. Many more variables. You still have those areas in the south, but they are more exclusive rather than the norm.

You want a city with majority homes and still looks good, on top of having good access to nature? Look at Seattle.
