@Rozay Oro - I feel you....if you really love something, you do it regardless....it transcends the potential of the material things it can offer you....

....I hope you recognize that some of these responses are tactical bullshyt....the primary vehicle of the entertainment industry is the internet....as such it's strategically occupied by people who are associates of the industry....

....lil Nas X is a publicity stunt just like Cardi B....they were chosen by the industry because somebody vouched for them and they were willing to play ball....just look at their names, one is an advertisement for liquor and the other is boosting off a reference....the industry focuses on producing artists who are characters to draw attention and artificially generate a fan base....one is a whore that was finally "recognized" by the world and the other is a black guy who's into country....these are basically entertainment roles being played by sellouts....most of these "artists" don't even write their own music or lyrics....

....the industry doesn't focus on supporting the development of independent talent, because that would generate independent wealth and fame....that gives a person power....the elite doesn't want that....they want people who rely on their support politically and professionally so they can control them....

....yea every intentional attempt of great art doesn't receive popularity and sometimes more intuitive works receive a lot of attention....but the logic that most great songs would be accidents, rather than intelligent designs of art, is bullshyt....an artist's ability is their talent [raw intuitive aptitude] magnified by their skill [refined development]....more often than not great pieces of art reflect an intent to produce great pieces of art....

....Beethoven, Bach, and Vivaldi weren't hastily producing multiple works hoping that "good ones" would randomly be generated....they also weren't wearing 69 tattoos on their face and multi-colored teeth....

Too many brothas out here trying to “do music” most of them straight garbage at that

If you’re in your early to mid 20’s these are your prime years, don’t waste them.

Consistent work with decent pay as a musician or writer? Tough. I will still do it but what I'm saying is. I can't use it as a croutch to raise my value.
As a musician, you can teach. As a writer, you can work in corporate communications or in publishing. And in your spare time, you do your own thing.

You live on your own or with ya parents? If so, do they make you pay bills?

How much school have you completed already?

Home, I pay my own bills (phone, health insurance, etc) and help a bit with at home. I'm going to need a full time soon. Haven't completed much of school but skipped this semester.

I'm interested in bringing back soulful vocals and funk rhythms in r&b. I don't even listen to that much of these new hip hop artists since they lack variety and bars. Don't get me wrong I still stay up to date but alot of these new rap artists aren't worthy beyond a few bangers.

That being said for sure need to come up with a day job I enjoy myself and that pays well.

Why are you paying for health insurance in your early 20s? Unless you have some type of condition, you don't need that shyt.

So you really ain't paying any house bills. No car note, no car insurance? Where do you live? Get a warehouse job or whatever you can to get 40 hours and OT (if you want).

Are your parents forcing you to work if you go to school full time? I suggest going to community college full time and working part time. Don't take breaks and stack your paper over summer months.

But that is if you want to go to school.
