I remember Corey Holcomb talked about why he really step away. :ohhh: And now I get why he step away from the 50 million.

He was saying that Comedy Central gave him a large amount upfront. Because they wanted all the rights to the Chappelle's Show. Basically buying all the rights from him with the 50 million. Dave realized that he would make more money in the long run, if he keep all the rights to the Chappelle's Show.
So all that talk about the Illuminati and the devil was bullshyt:patrice:

What I don't get is if he didn't agree with Comedy Central why just leave all together? Why didn't go to another network to do the show? His show was the hottest thing out at that time.

I don't know if I buy that completely...50 million? Even after taxes, is walk away from life money. It ad to me a mixture of artistic compromise, race related, integrity, pride, or he just had a breakdown...something swayed him to walk away, because I'm sure he hasn't had a payday close to 50 million since then.

Control & Ownership > Cash.

He gets 50 mil but if the show does, lets say, six seasons - Comedy Central cashes out way MUCH more than he would. I dont blame him. Dave is an intelligent guy, much smarter than they probably thought.

I'm guessing he would also have to give up creative control of the show and have to cater to whatever vision the suits have for the show - which could be a disaster when you're dealing with controversial topics as he did. A lot of skits centered on race and in the wrong hands it would turn into a minstrel show - easily. They'd want him shuckin & buckdancin every episode.

That show was his baby. His vision, blood, sweat and tears. It's his creation, but it's business at the end of the day. Fam is an artist and creativity is key, but OWNERSHIP over those creative ideas is first and foremost.

What's never stated is how much bread does Chapelle have now?

Also like others said, why doesnt he take it to somebody else?

And anybody else still hoping the shyt still happens? Chapelle only like 40, and even then comedy isnt something that deteriorates with age.
