I don't think ANYTHING said on Takeover was factually true outside of him smashing Carmen..
Both songs had plenty of exaggerations and
But Ether just had way more cultural impact..It is probably the only time Nas did something that resonated more than Jay on a pop culture level...

Illmatic was hot. I personally like IWW, but the general consensus at the time is that it was underwhelming after Illmatic.
And after that Nas didnt drop a anything in comparison until Stillmatic (which obviously came out after takeover)

it's just the rest of the masses, needed it to be more profile for attention.
plus, strategically jay lost by making takeover only one verse about nas.
then, following it up with a mix tape style song.
when, he owns a record label and had access to producers to make better.
jay, lost because he does not know how to battle and had all the resources to win the battle, too.
plus, jay made his method of attack about a female.
not, anything culturally substantial and that is also why he lauced't.
as, this is hip hop and nobody gives a fukk about no bytch like that, when a battle is concerned.
it is a good one line comeback or insult in a battle.
yet, you are not going to win a battle based with nas based off, just insults about fukkin his girl.

after, he went to the length of stalking nas's life.
which is not enough to hurt annakin Skywalker aka the darth Vader of rap

How many times are nikkas gonna try to rewrite history, Jay himself admitted defeat. Jay...JAY of all people would not do that if Ether was just lies and jokes. Nas wouldve been food.
I grew up bumping Takeover & I still will listen to it now. But ether was held it's own as a diss track. That can't be denied. I had to admit it not to long ago.
