There's something to be said about this part.

If I recall correctly, the whole "Me no black papi" :mjpls: trope on the Coli is because there are Latinos that deny their African lineage.

Thus, if there is a latino that denies being black, there are black people out here that will be quick to check on them on how they actually ARE black...

...but then, if there's a latino that does try to embrace it, there are black people out here that will be quick to go, "What are you doing? You're not black. Do your own thing."

It seems unproductive to do both. There seems to be the same concept when it comes to mixed people. There were folks who had a problem with Drake using the N word, but not J. Cole. Seems to be based on who is the most/least polarizing. Regardless, you get a handful of black people that will say that mixed people aren't black when those mixed people make efforts to embrace their blackness, but you'll also get a handful that will call them sell-outs if they embrace both sides.

Folks were less upset with Big Pun & Joe saying it, but there was definitely an issue when Jennifer Lopez used it.

Kind of feels "nikka" is the Mjölnir of the culture at times.

Came in to specifically speak about her name. I mean, I know for a lot of people over here we kind of have this radar, to say the least, lmao. Like a “yeah, they’re not one of us”. While we have a sense of community amongst each other, there are those that we consider “white-washed”. Same goes with mixed folks here (black/white). At the time when j-Lo recorded that record it was at a point people considered her white washed, lol.

Just off vibes alone you can’t compare Rosie Perez, Rosario Dawson to say J Lo.

y'all kill me with this in my city we don't let xyz say xyz, this let's me know who's outside and who ain't here u go

Kap G
Mexican rapper
Born and raised in Atlanta

Kap G - Wikipedia

bonus points for the in "bbbut in Chicago " crowd video has chief keef

am gonna guess your response

Bbbbbbbbbbbut never heard of this guy
Bbbbbbbbbbbut he won't come to xyz super dooper goon block

(fyi solo purpose of my post is to prove how silly the city e-gangster word police are. Non blacks shouldn't use the word)

nikka I'm from the A.... and I'm really from the A forreal forreal, not no suburb, my address say ATLANTA. And trust me, Mexicans do not say the N-word.
And Kap-G is not an accurate depiction of Mexicans in Atlanta... Mexicans here are like average Mexicans in Mexico... just mexicans. They not swagged up like that, and if they are something is off, like they outfit may be right, but they wearing phat farm shoes, or some weird shyt.

Anyway back to the topic.. Mexicans cannot say the N word.... Puerto Ricans and Dominicans get a pass cause most of them are Black, and if they aren't black they have Black somewhere down the line, whether they acknowledge it or not.

if that is how "spanish" people react to somebody telling them not to use the word then they definitely shouldnt be allowed to use the word...how would it look if i got mad or violent when a "spanish" person told me not to call them a spic?...
People don't realize Spanish people invented the word to be derogatory towards blacks

Growing up I didn't hang with white kids, and latino culture wasn't really soaked up/pushed on me in the home

I had my sister who grew up in 80s NYC, her drug dealer boyfriend

And American entertainment, which is black entrainment

I love and respect black people, but it's been hard to phase the word out of my vocabulary after it's been so ingrained in me

I don't use it in my music anymore though and I'm slowly, but awkwardly replacing it with dude in my normal life

It’s a different culture on the east coast. Hard to really explain. First time I came out west I was shocked at the disconnect between theclatinos here verses east coast but with history it makes sense.

You got to realize most Latinos and black folks were thrown in the projects together. Shared a common enemy with the gov. Plus the fact with a lot of interracial couples plus theclatinos here having African roots (whether they like to admit or not). I just gave you a summary and could go into more detail but in reality the relationship between carribean Latinos here is diff than the relationship between central amnericans out west. Shyt, the relationship between carribean Latinos here is diff than the rest of the USA. We all grew up together, mixed with each other, etc...

Plus it be impossible t go around “checking Latinos” who use the word. It’d be a lost battle. Fab, juelz, cam, nore are all mixed with black and Latino. It’d be stupid to go up to somebody of their color and say, “hey is one of ur parents black, oh ok it’s good u can use it”

Truth be told the easiest way would be for everyone to stop using the word, like myself.
Word, this was well put...
Ppl not from the east coast dont understand that blacks and latinos dont really have that same division that ud see in other places...
I look at Puerto Ricans from my hood like nikkaz, they just lightskinned nikkaz... alotta my dudes from Bushwick, u cant even tell that they are not black. Dark ass spanish nikkaz.
Latinos and blacks are more United, to a certain extent in NY, jerz, philly, etc..

You can't discount that some of them are racist though, however well they get along with black people

Sometimes it's just little ignorant thoughts that don't get challenged, but those are the thoughts that keep the train moving with shyt like that

I wouldn't know. Mestizo isn't a term I'm familiar with. On the cencus I always put white after the latino part, only cause my skin obviously ain't black

But European features do not dominate anyone in my immediate family

We look Dominican :manny:
