I really don't understand why major news networks interview radio hosts that don't know anything about politics and have no political background, but happen to have an opinion. Most of the network audience have no idea who this guy is and therefore, isn't going to take his opinion into consideration.

No one said he's a leading political voice though. He's a prominent critic and well informed media personality on politics. He actually talks and follows politics every week of every month of every year, not just during election season. I'd listen to CTG before i listen to all the celebs who suddenly know better than everyone a month or two before the election.

Pretty much Charlemagne in a nutshell. He can't really talk about issues beyond the surface level so he takes a centrist position to give off the appearance of being enlightened (and also out of fear of being embarrassed) . At the same time it's also part of the reason people like Vivek, Larry Elder, and Nikki Haley can come onto his show and dominate the conversation.
