The tape got out in the very early 2000’s and the youngest millenials were born in 1996, so no we didn’t all see it.
I vaguely remember the controversy surrounding the tape when I was 11 years old, and then the Chappelle Show had that "I want to piss on you" song, which really made it a huge joke. Never saw it and didn't even think to go try.

It wasnt just a "sex tape" it was a ped0 and rapist assaulting a teenager.
If thats "extra" to you, it says alot.
Whats more disgusting is he had multiple charting albums after that. It wasnt prinarily cacs buying his music, going to his shows, and watching that tape either.

so let's get one thing straight. when the tape dropped it was all rumors and allegations. the victim never went to court and he got off due to lack of credible witnesses eventually years later. it took a concerted push in the background and more evidence, the doc... for him to finally sit down. the casual fan didn't know about Aaliyah marriage situation or his being a serial predator until we heard more tapes leaked and more stories came out.
this is why i hate talking about the past in the present with people who love to push things out of context. yes he had more hits and continued on for a while longer. look at the whole situation in chronological order as it played out. the age of the victim was not confirmed for many years. you want to pretend people went out to buy abuse tapes to posture your morality go ahead. in reality it was a popular culture moment believe it or not.
And this is a reason the world is bad. People do one thing then lie and pretend they didn’t. You don’t have to scream it from the mountain tops but if you watched it so what everybody did back then who could.
