I dont see how this changes anything Budden said. Charlemagne still works for Iheartradio, he is making the corporation richer and they are giving him a check for his services.

Even if people don’t agree with Buddens views on Charlamagay; you have to respect Joes stance on the whole podcast, ownership, Spotify thing.

He wants to own whatever he created, he sees the value and he wants generational wealth, not a check

Props to the move but man do people listen to all these podcasts? Good Lord man lol. I listen to quite a few, and never heard of most of the ones in that deal. People barely listen to albums these days but are cool with listening to multiple hours of people talking? That’s cool.

And you don’t feel Cthagod is doing that for the other podcasts in the new network under iHeart? Honest question.

It's hard to talk about this without sounding like a hater :francis:, but I feel like what Char and Joe are talking about are two different things, opposite sides of the spectrum. I didn't listen to Brilliant Idiots (and won't bc of Schulz) but supposedly Char has a 50/50 split on the podcast network, versus the actual IP of the podcasts. This is a big deal, and I don't want to diminish that! But Joe is saying he's his own network and he wants to own his shyt outright, versus busting down the splits with a company like Spotify or iHeart. To me, if (if!) these podcasts gave up a portion of their IP ownership to iHeart versus licensing, we'll have to wait and see how good a deal it is. I can't see 85 South selling a part of their shyt bc they are booming....Drink Champs either. shyt, I think 85 South will be back on the road before you know it, getting paper.

So my question is, do you feel that Char getting these podcasts to potentially sign over a portion of their IP to iHeart is a big deal? For an established podcast like 85 South, Drink Champs, Whorible Decisions or Gangster Chronicles, I'm not sure that would be a good move. Some of the others? Maybe :yeshrug:

^^ that’s a stupid post. A check can also be generational wealth.
Stephen A doesn’t own his radio show or first take or ESPN. but $10 million each year for the next 6 years is Generational wealth.

This is a fact. I think that's the part where Joe's argument falls on deaf ears.....8 figure offers don't come every day. However, I understand the ownership part and in his position I would probably turn down offers such as this as well.

:hhh:

Dame Dash mentality is the only way forward for black ppl, no black man should want to answer to a cac.

Ownership and having to work for someone aren’t mutually exclusive things, thats the problem with that mentality. My bro has been investing in properties for years now and has been making more money as a landlord than he does at his 9-5. He keeps his 9-5 for his pension and health care which is far better than his wife’s.

People are in this weird mentality that’s it’s shameful to collect a check and make an honest living just keeping your head down and making smart investments on your own. It’s all or nothing with the former, which is why people like dame stay upside down with his businesses.

But I’m sure it sounds good to say you “work for yourself” while owing the IRS money.

If you listen to Budden's podcast again. Its clear he knew about this deal before it was revealed.

Everything he is talking about is with the knowledge of the particular's of the deal.

The bars about ownership and how you cant own something you arent funding are aimed at Charlamagne and his wording of what he owns.

This is really just Iheart's network and Charlamagne is the face. Pretty much what Diddy was for Ciroc.

I am still on the side of ownership. TOTAL ownership. if you a slave to money then thats cool. that aint me though. a lot of Coli members be on that vibe tho and they like to get in the thick of these lil gossipy wars about who is beefing and this man right and this one wrong. they only looking at dollar amount and nothing else. Dame comes off as real cornball sometimes but he sonned them on TBC that time. CTG and them can be bought and paid for. thats for sure. if you cant leave it to your kids then :yeshrug:. Like @Marlo Barksdale said. partnership dont necessarily mean ownership.

Life is about compromise. You can never be in total control no matter who you are. People act like partnerships are akin to slavery.

I heard Dame too and shook my head in shame. All that false knowledge from one man. There is NOTHING wrong with working for a living. I mean damn, dudes that work a 9-5 and hustle to get their weight up aren't cottonpicking sellouts. There needs to be workers so owners can own. If Charlemagne's goal is to influence the world and make an impact that lives beyond him, I see nothing wrong with what he's doing.

I do, he is a clown and I dont fukk with him at all. trying to clown another man about his business. fukk that. everybody and with that money at all costs shyt. Royce just posted that he would rather work 18 hours on his own projects than 8 hours for someone else. no one says people who work are sell outs. you do what you have to but CTG has shown me nothing to believe otherwise that he wont sell his ass to the highest bidder then make it look like others are wrong. and Dame saying that you cant leave those radio jobs and Breakfast Club positions to your kids is misinformation? dont @ me with that b.s.
