Exactly who I came in here to mention. You've got a bunch of guys in here shytting on a dad showing confidence in his sons and making claims that are nowhere near as outlandish or premature than a guy like Williams from Compton claiming his daughters will be the best tennis players in the world before either had really even broken into professional tennis. Yeah, I'm aware Williams received hate from the media in his day, but there's something to be said for a parent's faith in their child being a positive. And honestly, I know Barkley talks just to talk nowadays, but why is he entertaining what a college basketball player's dad has to say? If Lonzo himself said it, I could understand.

Plus, what is he going to cost them? If his kids end up being trash, that's on them. Him hyping them up isn't going to affect their abilities to get drafted or their abilities to get contracts. Their play will. Some crab ass nikkas are gonna hate on them because their dad talked a lot? Basketball and haters go hand in hand, just look at half the threads on the first page of this thread. The most hated player in the NBA is also the best/most accomplished. If Ball can't handle the pressure of scrutiny he might as well finish off whatever degree he's working on and get a 9-5 job. There's a reason the Williams sisters were/are so great. Besides the athleticism, they were the two most mentally tough players out there.

How Richard Williams brilliantly guided the careers, lives of his daughters Venus and Serena

Exactly. I've been saying this for months. Some of these nikkaz are pathetic who continue to hate on a black father pushing and supporting his kids. shyt is weird how some of these dudes are :snoop:

i cant get over this fukk shyt. the game has completely turned upside-down when someone who's famous because of their kids can talk shyt to one of the greatest power forwards to ever play in NBA.

some of yall co-signing this bullshyt? :why:
This means that the pops can't clap back at Charles :what:

The whole championship shyt with Chuck is kinda played out. Just becuz he didn't win, I guess his opinion aint shyt. :yeshrug:

yeah, and Charles is used to that as being the only comeback

I will just use this example again when I think of Lavar Ball. Remember when Travis Leslie said he was better than Tony Allen and Allen told him to "get to the league first"? Allen went on to be on 5 more All Defensive teams and Leslie was out of league in a year. Yeah, the Ball's are gonna be good players but he is setting the bar really high for them by saying they are better than the best players in the league right now. :rudy:

The problem is, mediocre players don't get the benefit of the doubt in situations like this. If his kids are at least really good, they'll be fine no matter what. Anything less than that and teams will start considering whether they want to deal with the trouble of dealing with their father. All in the media, all in the videos trying to tell the organization what they need to be doing, bringing unwanted attention, ala Miko Grimes.
You really think an NBA team cares about a players father talking to the media? They most definitely aren't going to entertain his suggestions as far as what moves the team makes. The only way any team has to deal with Lavar Ball is if he becomes his sons' agent. Mediocre players still get long term contracts in this league. From multiple baby mamas, to drug use, to getting into fights, professional sports teams are used to far more serious player baggage than some dudes dad having a vocal opinion.

Yes they will care. It may not always be a deal breaker, but it will be something some teams consider if the media gives their dad a platform. He could end up being a locker room cancer and he's not even playing. Imagine Lonzo going to the Lakers and ESPN has his dad on there talking about "D'Angelo Russell is a bum and he's taking too many of my sons minutes."

Nobody wants that type of unnecessary attention. But once again, if he's really good, none of it will matter

I hear you bruh. But are we supposed to completely disregard his opinion on a profession that where he competed at the highest of levels? :yeshrug:
....if he's talking about technical, ON-COURT aspects of playing basketball, then yes, you value his opinion based off of his EXPERIENCE in those regards.

But if he's just giving a PERSONAL OPINION - such as is the case here - then no, we don't have to respect anything he says, and he's frequently OFF with most of what he says from a personally-opinionated standpoint, which is why nobody respects anything he says that's not on-court related. :pachaha:

I personally think the "don't have a championship" card is played, so Lamar could have saved that part....and Draymond is just stuck on stupid PERIOD, so I don't pay attention to anything that weird ass nikka says, we talmbout a dude who thinks that not playing music is disrespectful, but somehow then justifies that repeatedly kicking nikkas in the nuts is acceptable. :stopitslime: :camby:

So when Barkley gives his personal opinion, Lamar has every right to clap back. Like I said, the championship thing is lame but he had a right to go back at that jolly koon's neck.

Isnt it Big Baller Brand? :skip: Somehow even worse :mjlol:

whatup Lavar
lol. i told you i knew lavar's younger twin brothers. and by knowing them. I've met lavar and his pops. If yall have ever met lavar's dad. you would understand why he acts the way he acts. His dad was exactly like this. it runs in the family. but what also runs in the family is a bunch of ball players that are great high school players. it seems this time around they might end up being good to great nba players. at least 2 out of the 3 sons. since these sons actually LOVE basketball. the brothers i knew, didnt love the game like that. they were just HUGE and was good at hoop.

read this article. you might understand. this is a family thing thats been passed down from generation to generation.

Waldner: Roots — From Ball family to Pete Newell

No doubt you have heard about the Ball boys of Chino Hills.

There is 6-foot-6 senior point guard supreme Lonzo, 6-6 junior LiAngelo and 5-10 LaMelo, a 14-year-old freshman.

They are three very, very, very special high school basketball players.

Lonzo Ball is considered the jewel of the 2016-17 college basketball class, an expected one-and-done player poised to save Steve Alford’s job as UCLA coach.

Chino Hills, the No. 1-ranked team in the country, toyed with a very good Bishop Montgomery team on the way to an 84-62 win Saturday evening during the Southern California Regional Championship. There were times when the Bishop Montgomery players must have wondered if there were a half dozen or even a dozen Ball brothers on the court.

The head count for the overflow standing room crowd in Long Beach State’s Walter Pyramid was 4,566, including many members of the large, close Ball family.

The story of the Ball boys is one of basketball roots.

Dad LaVar and his younger brother Andre played at Canoga Park High and at Cal State Los Angeles. LaVar spent a year at Washington State, departing because Kelvin Sampson’s game was too slow for him. He also played for

Charlie Sands at West Los Angeles JC in Culver City.

“Coach Sands is my man,” he said.

Two younger brothers, fraternal twins Lorenzo and LeValle, played for Coach Ed Azzam at Westchester High and at Cal State Los Angeles.

Tina Ball, LaVar’s wife, was yet another Cal State LA basketball player.

Azzam has fond memories of Anderson and Maria Anderson attending games to support their youngest sons.

“Nobody knows my father as Anderson,” LaVar said, laughing. “It’s Big Yank. That’s what everyone calls him.”

Big Yank grinned when Azzam was mentioned.

“Tell Coach Azzam I said ‘hi,’ “ he said......

We now have most of the board too young to remember Todd Marinovich
this is not that situation. his dad had him on some craziness. not eating like a kid ever. the ball kids still have fun and act like kids. but they are pushed in basketball. but they also LOVE to be pushed. because they actually LOVE the game. again, that combo rarely happens when a parent pushes their kid in something that their kid also is very passionate about. usually its the parent pushing and the kid not feeling it.
