It was an old league. The old guys who were drafted in the 80’s were still the best players in the league and only those veteran squads were really the title contenders.
Barkley, Drexler (later Pippen), Olajuwon still put up numbers and were still among the top players at their positions. They won 57 damn games and Barkley forced his way there threatening retirement.

Doesn't even make sense breh. There's literally nothing to suggest that the league is worse off because of any of this. If anything, the teams as a whole are better. Stars team up and forget they need a supporting cast, which leads other teams to stock up on solid players and remain good competition.
Ratings still good, revenue still going up, and free agency dominating the media.
