I haven't seen this comparison done here yet, so I figure I'd initiate the topic. Who had the better prime, peak, and most importantly, was the better player and is ahead in the rankings? I personally got Sir Charles in all three categories, but I'd like to know what y'all think. Discuss

Barkley by inches.

I would pick robinson because of his position and he gave a fukk about defense but Barkley showed he was more valuble in 93. Barkley didnt let his fans like Robinson before Duncan came in

Barkley by far.David Robinson put up a bunch of empty stats in the 90's.

Couldn't win shyt until Duncan came along.

Ask yourself, what are his career highlights?(70 against a terrible Clippers squad where they force fed him the ball in order to win the scoring title over Shaq?:comeon:)...Do you remember any real great playoff moments?

This dude literally has no standout moments.

Get em outta here:camby:

Different positions and roles in history but I'd say Barkley by a little. I've always underrated the Admiral but he was a beast. He was just a little too soft for his generation. Barkley played hard and and his legacy is far better than DR.

Charles was a much more nuanced offensive player and it showed in the postseason, but Robinson's GOAT level defensive impact and strong all-around offensive contributions make him a better prime player. Getting smacked by Hakeem (who nobody could fukk with in '95) shouldn't take away from that.

If the Spurs could put more around the guy in his prime he could've been looked at in a similar way to Bill Russell. Good article on that here

I'll take David Robinson. Probably the most athletic center in NBA history. I think he has become underrated over time because of the impact Duncan had later and because of Hakeem giving him that work during that one series, but you can't let that define his whole career. Defensively this isn't even a question as well, David was a dominant defensive presence.
